Engine. Some fantastic B&W art on this one. Definitely fantasy, but I'm not sure where it's going yet. Main character is a Paladin.

Catching up on the Phoenix Requiem. The art is quite good and the story quite interesting, though it is rather frustrating how the plot tends to meander away a lot: 200 pages ongoing and the story is just starting.

I agree. Sarah Ellerton is REALLY good at creating engaging characters and her artwork is gorgeous, but I think her plotting maybe needs a bit of work. After that long we should have some idea of where the story is headed.

After that long we should have some idea of where the story is headed. Meh... I think the problem is that it's so much more tempting to try an epic than something like "slice of life"(basically about someone's daily life) or something else which actually allows you to branch out the plot in so many ways. Also, my issue with Phoenix is that... well, the characters are certainly interesting but there're too many as it is, since the plot hardly moves. It would've been better to move the plot first and then introduce the other cast later. Or to simply have made this plot one of many stories of varying lengths.

Well, we don't know how epic it IS, yet, really. As you say, it barely seems to be starting, plotwise.

I'd say... well, it'd take at least a lot more time and cast for the story to enfold. There're spirits, magic, gods, science, technology and about everything else which hasn't or barely made an appearance yet. And that is... if she doesn't intend on taking the cast on a journey through uhm... other towns, cities and even lands. ;D

It looks like it's gonna be 'find & free the spirits' probably with opposition. Oh, and the grand love story. But that's just hints. Right now, it's a love story with weird twists.
So - who can tell, really?
I just hope she doesn't end it the way she did Inverloch with about half the story left untold...

Love story huh? *sighs* And to be honest, it doesn't seem to be that good of a love story either. Yeah... the ending was "meh". I grew to love all the characters especially the "2 boys" and it just ended like that? Oh well.

Yeah, I was blinking at the 'last page' of Inverloch for about five minutes wondering what on Earth I'd missed, I think. The whole point of all that was to get to a 'revelation' I'd seen coming half the story ago and there was absolutely no pay off! No resolution to most of the major plot threads, no sense of a completed story. Lei'ella and Varden were left totally hanging, Neiron had just become something new which was left completely unexplored and Acheron's whole point to everything he did was left as 'maybe, but don't hold your breath'.
Let's say I've been more impressed ;D
So yeah. Needs work on her plotting skills ;D

Started reading Erfworld, but not really a fan. It's not bad, but nowhere near as good as OOTS and nowhere near as funny as Yet Another Fantasy Gamer Web Comic, which is great.

Currently catching up on Shades of Grey shadesofgrey.rydia.netIt's kinda Christian but not so quite. Quite interesting... 'cos they don't try to pin the Church's teachings onto it. And Zebra Girl It's gotten less intense but it's still good. zebragirl.keenspot.com/

Earthsong which I can't remember if I added yet or not. The author keeps re-doing the story, but seems quite happy with this incarnation. Subculture - a comic about nerds and geeks. Some content unsuitable for younger people. Heritage - blatantly Christian but not preachy. Kind of superhero-ish, though still just starting to develop the story. Oriyan which I can't remember if I ever included. Kinda surreal fantasy about a man with no memory and the Elf girl who reluctantly adopts him.

Dark Wings - gorgeous art, good writing AND has dragons! I'm very pleased I found this one Crimson Dark - 'Space Opera' I suppose would be the description. Definitely pure SF. Good story. Reaper 7 - SF dark future, though with enough magic-like super-science it almost counts as a hybrid. Bringing peace to the future is not easy. The Dragon Messiah - fantasy, with no dragons so far though I don't doubt they'll appear, considering ;D

Totally agree. Love that strip. Annie is one of the most unique and interesting characters in comics - and not just web comics, either.

Dont know if you have read Looking for Group...but its freaking hysterical...particularly if you have played WoW, though it crosses into D&D and other aspects of nerdom now and again. The warlock is awesome... LFG
