I. Love. This. Game. Right now I'm having a blast playing through the Warden's Arena mod. Check out the party selection screen:

Starting playing around with this, though switching between several games. VERY good so far! I'm currently stuck in the dream world of a Sloth Demon, which is highly entertaining! ;D
I think I need more backpacks, though! ;D

Backpacks are the biggest problem with this game, yeah. Too much loot, too little space. ;D That's a good section to play through, yeah. A bit long overall, but fun while it lasts.

Wow! I just found the male prostitute downloadable content sidequest. I feel vaguely grubby after that...
Still liking the game, though.

That's pretty much my problem w/ most RPG's - I'm a packrat and hate dropping/giving up/leaving behind loot. If worse comes to worst, I like to take loot and go sell it.

Wow! I just found the male prostitute downloadable content sidequest. I feel vaguely grubby after that... Still liking the game, though. Yeah, it's pretty crummy - if you ask me. So is Return To Ostargar's DLC set-up, though - pretty crummy and all. I described it in Reply 174 in this thread. Worst of all w/ that, you actually do a battle that starts the quest, then the game asks you if you want to buy/download the quest. I mean, really...

I'm sure there are genuine prostitutes with more shame than BW.
It's one of the very few things that detracts from the game, IMO. It's the best game world I've come across that was actually developed by a computer game company by a VERY long way, it certainly has the best and most memorable companion group since PS:T (And more of them, yet!). I can't say any part of the plot has left me stunned and reeling yet, but it's really well plotted and every character seems to have genuine reasons for the things they do. I find myself absorbed by the world and the people... Until some blasted BW in-game stooge tries to sell me stuff!
I love the way the world is so open and the system is really good, being very close to the FF12 Gambit system I really liked. I only wish I could 'hands off' on the fights, after setting up all the tactics slots, just fiddling where I need to.
I think I have most of the characters, though not all. I'm sure I'm missing a dwarf, from the copious amounts of gift alcohol I keep finding ;D And I can't get that blasted Blood Mage, which is annoying. robably turn out I'm not supposed to, though. Not always easy to tell who is recruitable and who is not...

...And I have my dwarf! Yes! Instant liking due to plying with alcohol! ;D

FYI there's a mod on dragon age nexus that expands the backpack to the maximum size, so you don't have to leave and come back searching for left over loot.
I might post my complete mod list if anyone's interested (some are must-haves, like the fix for plus to healing effects, backpack mod, detailed tooltips, camp storage chest, stamina potion mod...)

Is there a 'Remove all blatant plugs for downloadable content' mod? I could REALLY go for that!

Actually yeah. There's one that completely removes Levi Dryden from your camp, and I believe the author was also working on one to eliminate the Bann Loren's Land location from your map if you haven't yet bought Return to Ostagar. Seeing as how I finally caved and bought the DLC I haven't tried them yet. DA Nexus (second entry)

I think the characters ARE greater than the story (which I still think is very well constructed) - especially Morrigan, Alistair, and Leilana. I think DAO owes a good deal to LOTR and The Witcher, if we're talking the plot and story here.

Thanks, Flix *** D - Much as I love the three you mention, I'm not sure the rest aren't as good in their own way. Sten is a truly bizarre creation, which is interesting in itself. Every 'wrong' conversation choice seems to be right, with him. Wynne is just great, obvious 'mother figure' or not. I also think it's cool to see characters helping to save the world who are NOT bratty teenagers! The Elf dude is definitely unusual but well developed. The dwarf I've only just got so can't comment on. If I ever get the blasted Blood Mage, he's cool. Even the DOG has real personality! Leilana is 'marriage chick' and Morrigan is 'wild fling chick', but both are incredibly well developed. If the ideal woman is a 'good girl' who'll be a BAD girl for the right guy, Morrigan is surely the reverse. Leilani I'm not 100% sure about, yet. Story: yes, very LOTR, with some strong Silmarillion influences in there, too. But escaping the shadow of Tolkien is very hard when creating Fantasy stories on an epic scale, and no-one was a better world builder than he was. I don't think I'm anywhere near finished, yet. But so far, so good

Believe me - Morrigan is the most powerful character in the game: storyline-wise and also as a character in your party for combat - her magic's pretty much deadly. I controlled her character in combat more so than any other character.
Wait until you see some of the stuff later on w/ Morrigan...yeah, she's something else...
Yes, Wynne's great character, as well - as the motherly figure and all. In combat, she's a good healer.
About Sten - didn't really use him too much. Can't really speak on him too much.
Shale is probably the funniest character and the best pure "tank" character...

I know what you mean about Morrigan. It got to the point where I felt I was playing as Morrigan rather than as my PC. My character was in love with her and so was I.
I hated Wynne. I hated her model and her voice and her manner. I eventually installed the "more possessed Wynne" mod and found I liked her a good bit more without that smug smile on her face all the time.
Sten was intriguing and complicated. I wanted to help him either prove his innocence or find atonement, depending on whether he actually was guilty. But at every turn he disapproved of me, even attacking me at Haven. Yet I kept him around and eventually he called me brother. Ultimately, he's probably my favorite character. I strongly hope for more about the Qunari in future Dragon Age games.
The others I'm neutral about. Alistair never left my party on the first playthrough. He was the noble hero, the only one without a grimy past, and a true friend. But a little boring unless you're the human noble female.
Leli was fun and scrappy, with a nice backstory and personal quest. I've yet to devote much time to Zevran, Oghren, Shale, and I haven't played the secret character at all (next playthrough!).
EK: What blood mage? You mean Jowan? There is rumored to be a quest where you can track him down after the events at Redcliffe (provided he was left alive) but it seems nigh-impossible to trigger without messing with some game files I believe.

Jowan, yes. He's far too built up not to be playable at some point - and I don't just mean in the kid rescue mission, either. I haven't managed to trigger Leilana's quest yet, despite having a 100% approval rating with her, so I'm guessing it's an event (Started the romance, but yet to get her into bed. Guessing that will be triggered by her quest... whenever that triggers...). Haven't triggered the elf's either, and he's the only character I don't use regularly. Too weak to tank, not enough other real skills. The rest all have some use.
Wynne's healing skills are great, Morrigan is a superb combat mage. Not joining EA, so don't have Shale. Love the Dwarf and his quest is really easy. Sten's is quite nice, too. Very short and with huge approval ratings! ;D Alistair - if he has a personal quest, I'm guessing I just haven't triggered it, yet. I'm guessing the dog doesn't have a quest. Called mine Fang, BTW ;D
Currently, I'm part way through Wynne's quest, which is annoying. 'Search the entire forest!' Yeah, really? Thanks...

Not joining EA, so don't have Shale. Shale's free DLC, as long as you bought the game brand new. It's worth registering - just like registering for CDProjekt's Witcher website gives owners of the game some benefits. You'll be hard-pressed to find a better tank than Shale. Believe me. You'll want a bad-ass like him in your party.
