The trip went really smooth this time, as soon as I arrived in London, I could hop from one bus to the Norwich coach and then sit back and relax for 3 hours. Jdust really did a great job organizing the trip completely up to the exact spot where I had to board the coaches

Well today was a glorious day, massive EK-themed pranks aside.... I finally saved up enough to get this beauty: This is a discontinued model, so a rare find! Wood grain finish (hard to tell from photo) and plays like a dream...going to have sore fingers for days I can tell!!

Congrats Flix and DPR! I'm just dropping in quickly to wish you all a happy Easter and let you know that I'm not far but busy... Switching for a new computer (and having no idea of what I'm doing) and in the middle of a research project (only having slightly more idea of what I'm doing, and which is probably more than my 2 teammates together do ). But beside I'm also enjoying the 1st weekend of Summer-like weather with doggie while it lasts, so it's not all painful.

My computer won't boot Windows anymore. I do hope this only is the result of corrupt boot files and nothing more. If it's only corrupt boot files it's not that bad acually, I made a backup of my important files (I do hope I didn't miss any save games...) only a couple of days ago (since my computer was starting get random freezes and stuff like that) so there's nothing important lost. And since I'm a student I can get Windows 7 Pro for free (as in, it doesn't cost anything). So, if I'm lucky I'll end up with a better OS and not much time lost. If I'm unlucky I'm gonna have to pay a non-trivial sum of cash to buy working components that shouldn't have gone broke after only two years though.
Animated smilies makes my mother's computer cry, by the way.

I've been able to fix that by doing a repair install with the Windows install CD. Also, if you can start in safe mode, try using System Restore to remove the last Windows Update. An incompatible driver update has caused deathly trouble like that before.

I suspect it had something to do with my last GPU driver update (because stupid Vista automatically installed some old drivers first thing when I'd rebooted after just unintstalling the drivers so I could install the new ones :bleep:). I managed to restart the computer (use last working config) and that way installed Windows 7. The nice thing is that all my old files are still on the computer, in it's own folder. After deleting the windows folder in that old folder I had 40 GB free space rather than 25. ;D Windows 7 has worked fine so far, by the way. Which doesn't say much since I've only used it for about two hours. We'll see when I try my hands at a GPU driver update... Übereil

I've been liking Windows 7 since the few days I have it installed (was on Vista too before that; it didn't give me as much trouble as people report though)... I'm still far from organized with it yet, but haven't had any real issue so far. Not that I've pushed the new machine much yet, mind...

It happened again today. I even got the failure to boot windows. However, after having waited a little it worked again though (we'll see for how long).
I'm thinking it's something hardware related and I'm thinking MoBo, power supply or fan failure.

Awww. =/ If it's so, hopefully it's the fan or power supply rather than the motherboard so you can replace it without too much trouble...

Yeah, if the problems get big enough I'll bother figuring out which one it is... ;D The computer does run perfectly fine for hours, it's just a few times when I boot it that it starts to act funny. Hopefully the "wait ten minutes" procedure will be a (more of less) universal trick. I tried downloading a program that checked how hot the temperature in the computer was/is but the program was six years old and my motherboard wasn't one of the supported motherboards.
