By the way I'm a big fan of the Death Gate series as well. Actually that's how I got introduced to Parkinson's art, the covers.

I looked at Walter Girotti's art and it really does not appeal to me. He does good work, but there is just something about it that just makes it art. I don't find myself drawn into them like I am with other artists. I love Stephanie Pu-Mun Law's Firefox. It is one of my favorite pieces by her. I'm not sure what it is about her paintings but they really intrigue me. Maybe the reason I enjoy Josephine Wall's work so much is because of my girls since it reminds you of children's art. It is art that my girls love looking at and I love sharing it with them. Amy Brown use to be a real favorite of mine and I still like her work alot, but I am finding others that I like more. She has a real problem with faces at times to me and there is something about the eyes that just don't look right in alot of her pieces. Over all I do like her work though. And as I said before no one has to sell me on Parkinson, I loved his art the moment I saw it. And would you believe this Phil, there are people that do not like Brian Froud's work. Shock isn't it? Both his and Wendy's work are amazing. Shan

What? Someone actually doesn't like Froud's work? SOME people have no taste! Interesting that you don't like Girotti's work, Shantara.

I can't really explain it Phil. There is just something about it that doesn't appeal to me as much as the artwork of other artists. I want to look at it again though and see if I can't figure out what it is. And yeah, I know a couple of people who do not like the work of Brian Froud. Shan

Oh, and Phil, the link for Fire Sea did not work for me. All I got was Fortune City. Could you tell me how to get there so I can go there on my own? Thanks. Shan

Way to go, Steve. Your link came through just fine. It is a great piece of work and Parkinson lived up to any expectations anyone might have of his work. And Phil is right, he does dragons like no one else. I love Parkinson's Sea of Fire, but I also like Royo's Prophecy. There is a definite difference in the dragons, but hey all dragons aren't alike. ;D Maybe that is what I like, the different interpretations by different artists if they do good work. Shan

I’ve never seen any work by Kevin Palivec. Do you have a link to his work, or did I miss it in an earlier post? I used to know what my favorites were, but it’s been so long since I’ve looked at them. I used to have a page of my website dedicated to Fantasy Art, but it got cut in the last reorganization. But of Josephine Wall’s art work, I think Bubble Flower is my favorite. Go to www.josephinewall.com and then gallery, then fairies and it’s the second image on the top row. In the surreal category, I really like Winged Vision, 6th row down, 2nd image in. There was another one I really liked, but I don’t see it in her gallery. It must have been in one of the calendars I got one year. I just like how intricate and complex her pieces are. There are so many levels and overlapping ideas. I can’t wait to get some posters of her work and put it up on my walls. Have you heard about Josephine Walls’ art book? I’ll probably get the softcover for $25 sometime. The hardcover is $40. You can only get it here: www.courtyardofromance.comAs for the Prophecy piece – that does look odd. Dunno why, though. Maybe it was a mistake. I can’t see why he’d do it on purpose unless the rest of the dragon was also see-through. Cool sword she’s got, though. I have the Good Fairies Bad Fairies book that Brian Froud did. I liked it a lot. I wouldn’t say he’s my favorite, but I do like his style – I just have to be in the right mood for it. I don’t think I care too much for Walter Girotti - his artwork is too realistic for me, I think. Fire Sea is an example of fantasy art I don’t like – too dark and angry for me. I’m still child-like when it comes to artwork, I like to look at pleasant happy pictures.

See Phil I'm not the only one who doesn't care for Walter Girotti's artwork. ;D Even though Silva reason is different from mine, she doesn't care for his artwork either. Shan

Silva -> As for the dragons by Kevin Palivec, I posted the link to his site and to his artwork at Elfwood earlier. I will see if I can't dig it up again for you. I was just curious as to what you thought since you said you liked playful dragons. I think you expressed my feelings very well also. This is one reason the girls enjoy looking at them so much. They love picking out all the different things in them. I think it is kinda like a puzzle to them. Bubble Flower is also one of my favorites. I can choose just one so I have several. Others that I really like are Psyches Dream, Winter Dreaming, Stairway of Dreams, and Mer Angel. There are others, but I think these are the top ones. I head about the book not long ago. I am going to get the softcover one. I know I will enjoy having it, and I think the girls will too. I also bought the softcover one that Amy Brown put out awhile back. As for Royo's dragpm. it is a piece that is hard to figure out. It may have been a mistake. I can't see him doing it on purpose, but then you never know what is in an artist's mind when they are painting. Weird at the least. Shan

I found the link you were talking about and I love those dragons! I didn't know he was Malathar. I used to have a few cute dragons on my website by him from his gallery of free images.
Thanks for reintroducing me to him. I never knew what his real name was. ;D

Silva, I kinda thought you might have heard of him and seen his work since you really like the cute dragons. He does fantastic work and we love them too. I've made the girls several pieces of note paper using several of his little dragons and they have really enjoyed using them. I found him first as Kevin Palivec and then found out he was Malathar. I like the fact that people have different taste especially in art. It makes it alot more fun to talk to them about. When they see things different from me, I get to see things in artwork that I never would have seen. In a way that is wy art can be so much more fascinating than a book to me. Shan
