Spain win 1-0 over Germany in the final! Yes, Spain WON an actual championship!!! Never thought I'd see the day, but they finally threw off their age-old ability to choke at the last minute. Let's hope it's the dawn of a new day for them Well done Spain!

Yeah, well done. They're talking about a new, tougher generation of Spanish athletes for the moment by the way. It's not only in football they've started winning stuff.
...and what does this have to do with Champions League? ;D

I was in Spain when they won, you should've seen the fireworks and the celebrating Spanish peeps! And when later that week Rafa Nadal won Wimbledon, the Spanish just couldn't have a better week!

Back to actual Champion's League...
Man U 2 Aalborg 2. Why do I think a certain Dane will be ecstatic about that? And why not, indeed! His local team did superbly and looked like winning it at one point!
Well done to Aalborg!

A certain Dane was very estatic yesterday! Aab, my local team indeed, finished third in the group and progresses to the UEFA cup as the first Danish team to survive the Cl group stage! We had a win against Celtic at home, a draw away, a draw against Villereal at home and now a draw in Manchester. I screamed, I shouted and the three of us had an absolute blast. Later we went to a pub and got one beer and just talked and had fun. Both Michael and Kim had to go to work today so we cut the evening short. But that's fine by me - I was damn tired anyway But let's be realistict - when it comes to play, chances and ball possession this was not a deserved draw. Naturally Man United was the better part against lowly AaB. Even with the substitues the team is still 3 times as good - and we're still talking Man United, the current best team in the world. Still, there's something to be said about fighting and heart in football and AaB had that in spades. In fact, our win against Celtic came after a nervous start and a Celtic lead. The same with the Villareal draw and both were deserved. Tonight it might not have been as deserved but United couldn't take advantage of the game and AaB fought heroically - and based on that, got a deserved point. And that's the charm of football So yeah, I'm happy ;D!

Draw for the last 16 is:
Chelsea v Juventus
Villarreal v Panathinaikos
Sporting Lisbon v Bayern Munich
Atletico Madrid v Porto
Lyon v Barcelona
Real Madrid v Liverpool
Arsenal v Roma
Inter Milan v Manchester United
***
Should be some interesting matches in that lot! Not to mention some brutal matches... ;D

That's one brutal draw and will make for some extremely interesting matches that could go either way. The top English teams against Inter, Juve and Madrid - something tells me it's not quite what either had hoped for ! Interestingly, the supposedly 6 worst teams are up against each other (well, replace Münich for Lyon) so we're going to see some underdogs in the quarter finals...

Yeah, which is always a good thing Much as I like seeing English teams in the final, I don't want to see anyone win it every year. Nor the same teams every year, to be honest. Upsets are good for the game.

Yeah and I don't think there's one clear favorite with the possible exception of Barca..
Should be a blast..
