65 mph? Darn, that's slow! (The road from my home to work to a greater part has no speed limit, and where it has, the limit is 120 km/h...that's 72 mph)

(The road from my home to work to a greater part has no speed limit, and where it has, the limit is 120 km/h...that's 72 mph) It used to be 70 on our road, but there has been a lot of new development and they slowed it to 65. It is not a highway--just a 4 lane road. In Nevada they used to have no speed limits on the highways. I'm not sure if that is still the case.

Nevada? That's the state where everybody lives in Las Vegas and Reno, with 555 tourists for every resident? ;D

Hyundai Sonata 2003. Not a bad car, especially when compared to the last few pieces of junk I've driven. I just can't wait to get a hybrid though... but that'll still be several more years before I can afford one. First I gotta pay this one off! Almost got a Sonata, but got a Hyudai Accent with a spoiler instead. I would have gone for the Accent, but I needed more room in the backseat since I drive a lot of people around. As it is, I need to have someone look at the radio because it cuts in and out. I'd walk or bike, but it's never been a viable option for me, either because of distance or physical problems.

I don't own a car either and living in a city with excellent public transportation pretty much ensures I don't need one

hmm have a look if the radio has a T or tdb button somewhere, a lot of new car radio's now have a built in traffic warning system, where the participating cites can warn of slowdowns, obstructions accidents etc etc and if your button is "on" and you live in a city that does not have that system incorporated then you may get occasional cut-outs from say Taxi Radios and other types of interference oh ... so try switching it to "off" before you get someone to charge you for doing just that There you go another few wise words from Mea

I didn't know that. Thanks for such wise words. ^_~ But I don't think that's it. It's a pretty standard simple radio. And it only cuts in/out on really hot days, so I'm thinking its a loose connection.

i do plan to get myself a car but not now. & really, i hate to drive but i just have to in order to go to work & back.
a motorcycle's a convenient thing to have when u have traffic jams between u & your destination. to be able to weave in & out of the traffic is a great thing about bikes. sad thing is that drivers with big vehicles tend to disregard bikes therefore putting bikers & their pillion riders in danger.

In Jaipur, India on the main street the traffic I saw included cars, 3 wheeled "scooters", bicycles, trucks, bullock carts, camels, donkeys and elephants.

I can get to work in 15 minutes with my motorcycle, while it takes hubby 30 minutes to get there. There are a lot of one way streets where i work As for the big four wheelers that take the whole road to themselves, I have a very loud "claxon" ;D

Up until a week ago, I was driving a 2001 Hyundai Accent GL. It was a good little car, and was great on gas mileage. But, being 6'2" and about 250 lbs, it didn't really fit me. The driver's seat had to practically be the back seat in order for me to drive. So, I got a new job (June 2006) saved up some money for a down payment, and got my dream car this past saturday... A 2007 Dodge Charger R/T, with a 5.7 liter HEMI V8, leather interior, 6 disc CD changer, power sunroof and rear-seat video sytem. This thing is a dream. I love this thing!!!

Mine's just a simple Mitsubishi Lancer Coupe. Great fuel economy, good storage space, and it works well. My only sadness is that it's currently carrying half-a-desert on it's paint work. There's been little point washing it bacasue I travel through two construction sites each way between home and work and for a while I was parkingi a third construction site.
Frankly, I'd rather take public transport but both home and work are in inconvinient locations. It's a 30 minute drive or a 2 hour train and tram ride. I'd have to take the train all the way to the city and then a tram back out again.

Our city does not have a subway or monorail system. We have public bussing but it is highly unreliable.
