For what it's worth, this came out today. It's the computer-made movie sequel to the role playing game Final Fantasy VII, this time the characters will be rendered in beautiful and realistic graphics, similar to FF VIII and FF X, instead of being disfigured figures.
The plot summary follows:
Two years after the events in "Final Fantasy VII", a disease called 'Seikon-Shoukougun', or 'Geostigma', is spreading through the planet. This disease is believed to have been caused by the body fighting off foreign material that invaded the body two years earlier, at the end of "Final Fantasy VII". Guilt-ridden and haunted by his past, ex-SOLDIER Cloud Strife has decided to live a secluded, solitary life away from his friends while maintaining "Strife's Delivery Service", whose headquarters is located in Tifa Lockheart's bar, the Seventh Heaven. Tifa's bar serves as an orphanage for children stricken with Geostigma. Here, Tifa keeps an eye on Barret's six-year-old daughter, Marlene, while Barret searches the planet for an alternative energy source to the fossil fuel, Mako. One day, Cloud receives a phone call from the former Shinra, Inc. president, Rufus, asking him for protection from a mysterious man named Kadaj. Kadaj, in the meantime, along with his brothers Loz and Yazoo, are searching for their "mother", and seem to believe that Cloud knows where to find her. Meanwhile, Vincent Valentine has been wandering the planet gathering information on Kadaj's scheme, and Cloud and his friends must come together again to fight these new enemies.
All the trailers I have seen make this movie look much better than Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within, that one we all didn't like because it didn't resemble any of the FF games and had a boring story to boot.
I'm going to get it and see how it is, and if I like it I'll let you guys know. I know Josh will also get it as well.

Spirits Within was incredibly beautiful animation, but they forgot a good film also needs silly things like plot & a story...

DID this come out today? I'm having trouble finding it...
Edit:
Advent Children Delayed
Sony Pictures revealed in this month’s Electronic Gaming Monthly that Final Fantasy: Advent Children will not be released in North America until this holiday season. The movie was expected to be released on September 13 in both Japan and North America but it now appears that the September date only applies to Japan. “Holiday season” likely implies a November release here in North America so we’re in for a bit of a wait.
Final Fantasy: Advent Children follows the exploits of Cloud and other characters from Final Fantasy VII in a full length computer generated film. Square Enix’s animation department is also responsible for the full length Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within as well as the “Final Flight of the Osiris” short film on the Animatrix. The film has been eagerly anticipated worldwide and was recently previewed at a film festival in Venice, Italy. Gaming Horizon will have more information on the release date for Advent Children as it becomes available.

Oh great. Okay, I guess we don't get it here in North America until the holiday season.

Yeah, I heard the japanese was out online. I'm waiting though.
Though I do think Square just blew it as far as making money by not releasing it here in America at the same day as Japan. Everybody at NarutoForums is downloading it instead of waiting for it, so they lost a lot of money.

Saw it at the firends house, no subs.
I thought it was awesome, my only real problem was how they did Sephiroth... He rocked, but I mean, how they actually went about doing him was lame.

I got it. Looks pretty good. It was a pain to synch the subs, but it worked out fine.

It was pretty neat. Low on story but high on action. Highly recommended for Final Fantasy VII fans.

Yeah, most of my friends love and rave about the action. There's avatars popping up with clips from that movie too, it's kind of getting annoying because I didn't want to be spoiled so much, but ah well.

There is not much to spoil, though. The only major spoiler is kinda obvious. I kinda want to play FF VII again, it's been a while since I did it.

How they did Sephiroth was soooooooooo lame... If I had a more safe way of posting spoilers I would, but it was thoroughly disappointing. Love the overall movie though

Just color your text with white, Terrordar. Works OK enough.
I do wish we had /spoiler tags though. Would make things a whole lot easier talking about comics and the like here.

after watching FF7: Advent Children, i daresay it's only slightly better than Spirits Within. the plot is merely a plot device just to make the action sequences flow a bit better. other than that, it's a Paris Hilton: nice looking but ultimately dumb.

I still have Advent Children on my computer, but I only watched the first 45 minutes (or so) haha. Even though I haven't seen the whole of it, I can say that, so far, I like it all ;D

It's pretty nifty. Not much on plot, but the fighting and music are excellent!
Of course I'm a Final Fantasy whore.

FF whore for the win ;D Well FF is (atleast in my opinion) the Playstation-games with highest quality, and usually FF has the best possible of stories ;D But even so, I was a bit displeased with FF X-2 ...

True, the plot and the story isn't really much to rave over. Still, it's a fun little action movie, and the visuals are superb. Very much a "popcorn" film, however. Kind of a shame in a way, though. I'd have loved to see a proper story made out of the FF7 universe. There's still a lot of potential with it that I think has remained untapped. But who knows? Maybe one day Square may get around to it.

I kinda forgot to comment on this movie, didn't I? I did finally watch it and enjoyed it a lot, but it wasn't anywhere near as spectacular as I thought it looked like it could be. But still fun to watch all the FF VII players come to "life" a little more.

A shame the story couldn´t be better, but hey it still had Sephiroth in it and they didn´t make him as bad as i first thought! Sephiroth is on my top list of antagonists ever (i really adore him in ff7)
