Pakistan is balanced on a knife edge is why. On the one hand they are riddled with lunatic extremists, but on the other they are close to a vastly larger and deeply antagonistic nation (India). They get on well with the West and don't want that to change, but the West is the enemy of the fanatics (As indeed all non-Muslims and not a few Muslims are).
A wrong move could push them into serious internal strife and possibly a civil war assuming the military don't mount a coup (again). Various parts of the govt (Like the intelligence agency) seem to be semi-autonomous anyway, which doesn't help.
It's a huge mess.

Of course. The entire country of Pakistan if [Censored]ed up.
See the whole probably with that Terror is the whole I don't want to die thing. If this was WW1 I'd be all for them blowing each other up.
