Thank you. I've currently begun to read the novel "The Ruins Of Dantooine", a Star Wars novel , plus I've finished the newest "Asterix" comic book, which was published for the 50th birthday of both protagonists "Asterix" & "Obelix". You're welcome. BTW, what is the newest Asterix comic book? The last one I read was "Le Ciel Lui Tombe sur la Tete" (Asterix and the Falling Sky).

That's the last one I read too (and I found it boring compared to the other ones). Apparently the newest one is this one (click).

Yes, La Fille is right. I haven't read the two books before that yet, though.

@ Fille: Thanks! I agree, LeCiel Lui Tombe sur la Tete wasn't as good as the other ones, but it was still good, BECAUSE THE ASTERIX SERIES IS AWESOME!

You didn't miss very much with Le ciel lui tombe sur la tête, Alrik. Some of the recent out-series are great however; I liked Asterix and the Class Act very much, as well as How Obelix Fell into the Magic Potion When he was a Little Boy (this one has full-page illustrations and little text though).

Ah... You've just reminded me of the one where Obelix falls into the potion as a grown man, and turns to stone! And to get un-stoned, Panoramix gives him a potion that turns him back into a little boy, but in the same state he was before he fell in (a.k.a Normal). That was one of my favorites, I believe it was called L'Odyssée d'Astérix. @ Fille: Do you usually read them in English or French? I have always read them in French.

I read them in French since I was a little kid. Every Christmas time here they also air the animation movies.
I think it's the kind of books that you need to read in a language you master a lot to fully appreciate because of all the puns and cultural references; I can't in English so far.

Ah, unfortunately they don't air them here. I agree with you, books like this must be read in the original language, if not they tend to lose some of their meaning. I have found the same thing you have when reading them in English; they lose a lot of their meaning/humor.

Actually, I meant more reading it in a language that one knows enough to catch the subtleties in the puns; I think translators can do a pretty good job adapting the content, even if the jokes are sometimes totally different. ;D

Of course, the translators have to be creative enough to come up with a new pun to replace the one that was lost in translation. Yay! ;DHope you have lots of fun with it!
