www.nettavisen.no/innenriks/article1453635.eceThe website is in a language only understood in Canada and Scandinavia. I am told the story tells of a kid who used the "Feign Death" hunter's skill he learned in WoW to avoid an attack from a wild animal. Maybe somebody here can translate the story.

That's Norwegian so I doubt Canadians can read it.
According to the story the 12 year old kid and his little sister ran into an angry elk while taking a shortcut to the school bus. The sister ran while the brother tried howling at the elk to scare it. That did not work so the brother ran as well but the Elk caught up and hammered him in the back. The kid rolled over and lied totally still feigning death and eventually the elk ran away.
The kid procceds to tell that when reaching level 30 in WoW you learn a trick called feigning death and that's pretty much what he did. Amazingly the kid only escaped with only bruises and due to his quick thinking he probably saved both his sister and himself.

Just goes to show - computer games can save your life! ;D Not that most gamers have a life to save, eh? I still remember the immortal words from South Park when the kids were confronted with a geek living his life in WoW and killing everyone else .. "How can you kill that which has no life"

Pffft, what a wimpy kid. He should've tried to pull Tame Beast on the elk.

Then set it upon his enemies! >: )
To think that when I was a kid, I saw some elk come up to my tent while camping. I stood still so as not to scare them off, but it seems I stood still so as not to set them on a killing frenzy. :/
On another note, video games dont' save lives, they prolong them in order to suck out more and more of our life force and our very souls. o.o

Feign death is in Divine Divinity first... God... Unless you're not being ironic or joking, you do realize how thoroughly derivative and unoriginal Divine Divinity really is, right? That and, setting aside non-computer RPG systems, there was feign death in EverQuest (came out well before DD) and probably similar spells/skills in any number of games that predate DD.

Feign death is in Divine Divinity first... God... Well noticed Lews, the Feign Death is indeed in DD, when Gareth wants to escape his army duty from the castle to go back to his beloved Isolde. But...the kid is 12 years old, DD is 5 years old, this boy would've been 7 years old so I doubt he knows DD ;D
But I find it a nice positive story to what else you hear on the news, about kids that are soo addicted to the game that they don't eat or sleep anymore

Who the [Censored] cares when feigning death was first used or is the game if it was used in was derivative. The kid survived so let's be glad for that.
