Because of the nature of the forum, all normal rules are suspended. Anyone who is GMing a game in the forum (Its not just there for MY use, you know will be given mod powers to enable them to keep total control of their game. When a game finishes, the GM will be removed as a mod until or unless they GM again. This means we may have no active mods or quite a few at once, but seems fairest to everyone

Makes sense. Only a GM should have powers to change posts for their game.

To that point can I suggest that each game have it's own sub board?

If it gets too confusing, DL, we'll do just that. Good suggestion Currently there's just one game, so there should be no confuson.

I would hope that in the event there are two or more games running, that each GM would only modify his/her own game threads. If that trust is broken at any point, then create sub-boards.
Unless you're worrid about too much cluttering, then I'd agree to start off with sub-boards.

I'd say clutter was the main concern, Silva, yes. I'm not worried about abuse of mod power with THIS board, I assure you

Yes, I was wondering why anyone would be worried about mods abusing power here. ^_^
Though I think it will be some time before another game starts up. I for one am waiting to see how the current game turns out before attempting my own, especially since I've never participated in an online game before.

I think you are right, Silva. I'd half expected someone to run a Superhero game at some point, too, but I guess it's really early days yet

Yup, unless someone wanted to play another system. But looking at D&D, I can see that it would take a lot to transfer it to the web. And you'd never be able to be dice-free. Though I wouldn't worry so much about the dice, I've seen online tools to help with that. I just know that D&D is quite complicated for new players.

And relies on everyone having the same manuals, Silva, which is a bit unlikely. I don't think it's quite fair to ask everyone to spend £50+ on game manuals before they begin play

Very good point E. I hadn't thought about that since I'm so used to everyone meeting somewhere and creating characters from one book.
I like that you're trying to create a simple system that can be used online and with any genre.

I'd like to start up another superhero game here if possible it seems there is some interest with Sarah, Max, Will, possibly Gray and of course me. If you need me to submit a plot or anything I'll be glad to once I get the details hammered out.

SPS... Just tell me when you're ready to start, SPS, and I'll add you to the mods I don't need to see plots/synopses/whatever. It's your game, not mine, and I think I can trust you to keep it in forum bounds Ideally, I want you guys to feel free here, not like I'm looking over your shoulders all the time *** Silva... Assuming the playtesting goes well, the actual system is done. Adding new genres is simply a matter of making new skills available, and making sure Int is still a valuable stat where there is no magic (Not hard in an SF game, as computers and high science serve the same purpose ) Guns all have mechanical strength, of course, which is why crossbows work the way they do I've been considering other genres throughout the process.

That's good to hear Elliot.
This is revealing a lot, but I was quite the Trekkie when I was younger (Next Gen all the way!). I even played quite a few of the Star Trek RPGs online, though we didn't quite call them that back then. A group of people would get together in a chat room, each choose a position on the ship and there would be a story that we'd all "play" through.
Anyway, I'd be interested in trying my hand at sci-fi roleplaying again. I always enjoyed being an engineer.

*shrug* Whatever happens, happens. I'm much more curious to try out a Superhero RPG right now... some combination of Kitty and Illyana's powers would be cool. ^_~

Illyana with phasing powers TOO?!? Girl's tough enough already, I think That said... Yes, I know how the system would alter for superheroes

Post by SilvaShado on Feb 19, 2006 4:16:49 GMT
LOL, I wouldn't be able to choose all of Illyana's powers. At least I doubt any GM would let me. But I'd like to find some combination that'd be fun.
SPS - what system do you have in mind for the Superhero RPG? I hope it doesn't require buying any books.
