We were lucky. We didn't deserve to win. I can admit that. Our attacking game lacked idea, it lacked edge, it lacked quality. It has to be faster, it has to be better. Only positive thing about this game was Kim Källström, who did a nice game as offensive midfielder, was determined, quick in mind and showed a will to take initiative that most other players lacked (especially the forwards). We need to get Zlatan going, and Ljungberg going better (he fights, but he doesn't do much more). As it is now we acually ARE going out in the first round of the playoff (especially if we'll face Ecuador, they seem like Paraguay with edge. Suprizeing how harmless Paraguay was, even Trinidad & Tobago created more chances).

Sorry Ub The england game is one i expected..we just need a strker confidence boost and laos need to try and open up play by short passes in the heart of defence...which rooney did and maybe j cole as well can do that. The problem is width....lennon when going wide takes a few defenders with him and so free's up the strikers. I must say i never thought it was in sven's ability to put on attacking players!!!!! Ecudaor look good but i fancy us beating either them or Germany. Today Argentina 2 - 1 Serb Holland 1 - 2 I Coast Mexico 1 - 1 Angola.

Zlatan might be out for the rest of the tornament . This is NOT our WC... And England needs to get some teamplay going. You need to sync Lampard and Gerrard most of all, and you need to get Owen going. Then you might go far. Übereil

IF Gerrard and Lampard can play together, it would help, but I don't think they've ever managed it. They seem to stifle each other, sadly. We should really drop one of them and put either Hargreaves or Carrick on instead, which would free the other. Not an easy decision ro mke on which one to drop, though...

I'd drop Lampard, since Gerrard seems to be in better form. This way Gerrard will get more space for his offensive game too. Übereil

Poblem with that is that Gerrard is wildly inconsistent. He'll be fantastic one game and rubbish the next with no rhyme or reason. Lampard has better consistency, and both at their best are about as good as each other.

I hear too much about the World Cup nowadays. It's all the mods at my forum are talking about, 'cause it's such an international collecting of people. They even modified the calendar feature to include every event on a daily basis. It's kind of amusing but at the same time I really couldn't care less. Glad you guys are having fun with it though, but I can't wait for MY preferred version of football

I'm so excited for our football Phil I can't contain myself, especially since baseball season appears to be over EXTREMELY early for me....

Well Ghana surprised everyone, beating the Czech Republic 2-0. This gives the US some hope. Even if they lose, they aren't out of it, though they might as well be, since they are already -3 in GD. Even if they lose 1-0 to Italy, they'd have to have the Italians beat the Czechs, and then beat Ghana 3-0 to move on. They really need a win here to have a decent chance.
My prediction: Italy 3, US 1. I love my country, I want them to win, but I can't pick them against the Italians. They are too strong.

Who picked the referee for our match? He's sent off two of our men for little more than late tackles. We're now down to 9 men. Luckily the Italians have had a man sent off too, for a blatant elbow to the face. But still, we should be up a man, not down one. What total BS.

USA 1 Italy 1 at the finish. The US must beat Ghana to progress, but they can do it.
USA - Italy was... bizarre. The ref was certainly very card happy, and stifled the game, I think. I felt the US were the better team, but to get a draw with italy with a man down - I doubt they'll be totally disappointed.

Well, they might not be disappointed, but I am. We were clearly the better team. The ref took a win away from us.
Ghana are beatable, but they are going to be very tough since they are still very much in contention. We also have to hope Italy beats the Czechs.

The Italy- US was great imo..ive never seen anything quite like it. ;D
Czech not looking s good now eh?
Good for us neutrals!!!!!
Ok the Egland debate....
Beckham when hes supposed to be playing on the right never does so...hes always in the middle..in fact he seems like gerrard to play the holding midfield.
Fine let him do it and push Gerrard forward..Lennon can play on the right.
With him getting past defenders it should free the strikers up slightly.
With Cole on the left there seems to be no room for lampard...but against Sweden i would play lampard instaed of gerrad and Owen instead of Crouch.
These two need a confidence boost and i feel if we are going to win we need to use say 14-15 players who are all playing well not just the 11.
Owen/carrick/lampard/downing/carranger etc can be supersubs.
Also Owen likes getting balls on the ground..not headed to him from 10 feet high!!!
Rooney will bring out the best in him.
btw..looks like some suprises on the horizon!!
Japan 1 - 3 Croatia Brazil 3 - 2 Australia or maybe 2 - 2 France 2 - 2 South Korea. ;D

Apart from the fact that France won't score I agree on that . I hope Sweden will draw, but the way we're playing it feels like the only hope there is 0-0 . Übereil

Japan with the Croats, scoreless draw. bloody boring game. well almost as boring as any game the Swedes play (no offense to Ube). not a surprise is a 1-1 draw between Koreans & the french. the french have not been in form since their Cup victory way way way back then. as for Brazil against the Aussies, well what else to expect? the brazillians are not truly challenged yet. me, i don't support anyone in particular but i would support the underdogs.

The Koreans really put on a good show... The French were getting all cocky with that goal and start slacking off and the Koreans took avanage of it.. Was actually a good show..

Well at least one of my predictions came true..to bad for togo!!
Swiss are in a good posisition..winners 2 - 0 means France have to win 2 - 0 to ensure qualification.
A pity about Tunisia they sat on their behind and lost 3 - 1!!!
Ukraine wins 4 - 0!! Wow they are in a bad mood i dont want to face Ukraine myself.
My predictons today..
Ecudar 1 Germany 2 Sweeden 0 - 1 England.
T & T 1 - 0 Paraguay Costa rica 2 - 1 Poland.
