Yeah, a lot of metal is situated at the negative end of the spectrum, so it may not be the best idea for one who tends to get depressed by music.
For me, metal can make me feel better rather than worse; Partly its a catharsis - you get to see your feelings expressed through music and it helps purge those emotions. But even more than that, it's reassuring in a sense because it says you're not alone in feeling bad. In those times, I hate happy music because it makes me feel even more separated from everyone, who seem to be living perfect happy little lives. Sounds backwards I know, but I hope that made some sense.

Did to me. I listen to The Damned when I'm really low... I can't help but cheer up because they sound more depressed than me ;D

Mmm... no, it's not really specific music that gets me depressed. Sometimes, it's certain pitches aka tones in music, certain parts of melody, etc. Or sometimes, it's certain vocals. Like that guy from Creed? Oh man... And there was some Japanese band whose music was really good but equally depressive. Hehe... kinda get what you mean about the "happy" stuff, Flix. For de-stressing, I sometimes listen to Converge. Sure, it's a lot of screaming and pounding but it gets the stuff out of my nerves. Though at other times, I listen to Polysics or something else. Basically something that works when the other stuff don't. *sighs* Are my posts getting too long or something? Oh well... nevermind.

If you want a good pick-me-up song, I've never found anything to beat Twisted Sister's We're Not Gonna Take It.

I like Jex Thoth. I have Candlemass and Electric Wizard albums but I rarely listen to them. Hmmm....You might like Grand Magus. The doom I like is more along the lines of Novembers Doom, My Dying Bride, Funeral, Katatonia, Anathema, Morgion. These are more gothic and less stoner doom style.

Some of those you mentioned I have heard of , I will check out Grand Magus, I've heard the name , but never the music . I used to loath stoner doom slow style drone , but then I started reading HP LOVECRAFT novels and much of those bands gather allot of influence from his stories, one day it all clicked for me.
