EDIT: Any generally trippy music, probably from multiple genres, I'm just interested to see if anybody has some good ones.
Because its interesting! Not even absolutely sure of the category borders myself, but I think I like it if I know what it is. ;D
I think the best way to describe it is music that is dreamlike, soft, almost feeling like you're drugged listening to it. For example, take Silence by Delerium. (Dang, this version has a long intro, like 1min30sec, but its the best I can find). However, Inner Universe by Origa (used in Ghost In The Shell intro) is more techno-y, but still trippy. I still think of it as trance. And the last of this maybe-sort of music I listen to is Sting's Desert Rose, featuring Cheb Mami. Also, on a side note, not sure if Era's Enae Volare Mezzo counts, but I'll add it in for the heck of it. Killerzzz

Isn't that because you're supposed to be drugged listening to it? That doesn't sound like Trance to me, Kaz... Wiki sez Trance is this - which accords with what I know...

Faust's pretty trippy...Edit: Meh, they didn't include the brilliant ending. That ending is my favorite thing about that song! Übereil

You even remembered to include a suitable content warning with the link, Kit! Well done! The forum rating is 'PG-ish' not 'Adult' after all

Yes, I've heard of Delerium and even had one of the cds from Front Line Assembly(the main project of the guys who formed Delerium). They're pretty awesome. Oh and I like to listen to Massive Attack, M83 and a few other groups if they count. I've heard some music from other groups like Sofa Surfers and Moodorama(frigging talented and awesome) but too bad, it costs a bomb to ship into Singapore so I never got their cds. www.youtube.com/watch?v=5g8a9luSZVIThis is pretty cool, too. Delerium is most definitely not trippy. Trance music for the most part isn't, and neither are most forms of electronic music.
Fortunately Aphex Twin IS trippy. The man is a genius. Play some of his songs through a special encoder that will make a picture out of the audio waves and you'll see a picture of his face.
I could make thousands of posts about the best Trance and electronic music, but it is not trippy. I could look through my vast library's and probably find some other great examples besides Aphex Twin, though. Give me a few days =p

Problem is, trippy isn't a genre. It can span many categories. Trance was at least a genre.
I like Aphex Twin. A lot of it reminds me of a "bad trip" but it is definitely ambient, spaced-out, weird dream stuff.

@ube Yeah, that was pretty trippy. Well, the start at least. The rest was just fun to listen to. ;D I mostly found the part with the vocals was the trip. kittyI found the first one more weird than trippy, but I can see how it can be trippy (especially with the help of that video ). And the second, well, again didn't trip me, but yeah I can definitely picture someone freaking out listening to that on drugs. @sonar Ooh, yeah, Massive Attack has a bit of that feel to it too. Hmm... been a while... I've listened to Angel by them alot, but that one's not very trippy, but a nice listen none the less. Future Sound of London had it a bit too, but was pretty relaxing. ;D @jang Ah, your FSOL is a bit trippier, but still relaxing. Actually sounds like something you might hear in a Loadrunner type game, or something. The second one's a bit on the same lines, though a bit more lively and less relaxing. That Aphex Twin certainly was trippy though. Really interesting too, all wind-up music box sounds. Cool. LewsYou should start a real Trance thread, since I have no idea what it really is. ;D As for Delerium, I guess its just a matter of opinion (probably on my part ). I just find it so odd and soothing. FlixYeah, sorta recovering from my Trance slip up. (silly me) However, I am just simply interested in anything strange, and well, trippy. Don't have much of it, and want to see if there's anything out there that I'll resonate with. Killerzzz

try to official site of FSOL. it has a lot of samples of albums that may appeal to your sense of weirdness. i recommend Dead Cities album by FSOL & The Isness by Amorphus Androgynous.
