So I'm back! Health restored (more or less), last gigantic work project just about done and now I can focus on the good sides of life again: Awesome Holidays!I'm a tiny bit obsessed with certain holidays, almost never because of their origins but because of their cheap sellout-nature in recent times ;D Next up is my friggin fav - HALLOWEEN!!! So I already think about decoration and most importantly -> what to wear and what to do. So here I thought the General Board would be general enough to bear with my craping on about it. COSTUMES *drool* Poison Ivy I'm obsessed with superhero villains. Poison Ivy is very high on the list and since I plan to go ginger soon... Agnes DrearySo you probably don't know who that is - it's a doll made by Tonner Doll Company. An eerie school-girl-adams-family-thing... That's my ideas so far *scratches head*

Poison Ivy was always the hottest Batman villain. I could bear Mr Freeze just for Poison Ivy. Possible NSFW guys.Personally, I'd go for Mileena(the costume seen there) or Sindel(the costume seen there) *thinks of more...*

Can't go far wrong with Poison Ivy (Though that film had a lot of fun proving it could be done ;D). No doubt that Batman has the best rogue's gallery in US comics.
There really aren't many great female super-villains (Though it may be worth remembering that the original Batgirl is also a redhead, heroine or not...), with Catwoman and Poison Ivy probably leading the pack. Harley Quinn is not exactly awful, mind. On Superman's villains' side, Maxima is also a redhead, though far less known.
Emma Frost - The White Queen - has technically joined the good guys these days in the X-Men (Technically, because I still think she did it for personal advantage rather than any serious heroic impulses) but if you want a killer costume, her or Elektra (More anti-heroine than villainess) are probably the way to go, at least on the Marvel side. If Marvel has a single outright villainess left who isn't complete rubbish, though, her name escapes me.

How about inventing yourself a female version of some classic male superhero villain to have something less common? Or giving some a different twist, like creating the Captain Australia or Dogwoman?

Firstly, thanks for all your idea (probably the only topic I just can't really [Censored] about) I had to google who Maxima is @ Eli - she is hot (and I like the comstume, it's green!) but her character... trying to convince superman to get it on to rule a funny-named planet? Bit lame I do like Harley Quinn very much actually but making is costume is simply trickier (yes I'm making the costumes, I don't like buying em cause they NEVER come in my size). @ Stig, I like Sindel ^^ but I look funny in violet... @ Fille - I did consider creating a female version of a male superhero/villain but wasn't quite sure yet.. I love the Flash or Aquaman (I know theres Aquagirl already..) but I don't want to look like Cupid or a Mermaid ;D Maybe I make a Super Kitty... all those catwomen/girls & Co should beware!!! I also thought about going as hardly known/not really famous/early discontinued superheroes/villains. I do like Copycat (Marvel) for example, white hair and being a metamorph is kinda cool I also think it'd be fun to be one of the Atari Force, especially cause I could have matching costumes with my BF, his bro and sis (we're all living in the same house) we just invite his sis' BF over and we are a complete set of geeks To again go against your assumption Eli, I do like Marvel's Dead Girl - because what's cooler than villaindom + zombie-nature? Um ye. Babbling rules.

Well, if you like white hair and a Kitty-related theme, why not go for The Black Cat, Kit?
Not only is she somewhat known (And yes, Maxima IS lame. Most Supes villains who are not Lex Luthor are) but Black Cat also has a pretty cool costume...

(And yes, Maxima IS lame. Most Supes villains who are not Lex Luthor are) With the exception of General Zod and crew... As far as Halloween goes, we never celebrated it. My Dad never let us... But now that I'm a BIT older (still a kid in many ways ;D ) I really don't care about it. *shrugs*

Well, being the only one to celebrate Halloween must make it much less fun too, unless costuming for itself is your thing. Last year's most original costume that I saw IIRC was a girl disguised in those smelly little cardboard firs that you hang on the mirror of your car. Mine was a kind of goth Pierrot.

Halloween isn't celebrated here, so why bother? Like Fille said: "being the only one to celebrate Halloween must make it much less fun too, unless costuming for itself is your thing." Thankfully, costuming is one of MANY of my "things," ;D so usually sometime on Halloween we had a costume party of sorts. Only ONE time though, when my Dad wasn't there, My brother got to dress up like a vampire, I dressed up like a vampire's victim, my sister dressed up like a banshee, and we fashioned a jack-o'-lantern out of a watermelon. ;D *ahem* Saint Patrick wanted Christmas (Christ-mass) and Easter to coincide with pagan festivals, because he wanted his new converts to stop celebrating those days in a pagan fashion. See, he knew the people were used to celebrating SOMETHING on those days,so he didn't want to disappoint them by getting those "red days of their calendars". As for Halloween, well, I guess Dear old Saint Patrick wanted to eradicate that one entirely, with no replacement. I mean, wasn't that when all the druids, witches, warlocks, etc. would convene, and have the most powerful one get possessed by Satan himself, and then Satan would tell them his will? I don't know, what's it to you, Galadriel?

Halloween is to celebrate the end of harvest, on that day, so celtics believed, the border between the life and death is thin enough for the dead to invade the living and bring a bad harvest for next year or make someone sick. Dressing up is to fake the dead to confuse them. The whole satan stuff is a christian idea and had nothing to do with the celts. And two, why should it BOTHER anyone to celebrate something??? ;D I celebrate Halloween because it's a heck of fun and I live and was born in two countries where hardly anyone celebrates it - but that doesn't infect me One can make or go to a halloween party or, as I tend to do, to places where noone expects a costume, see shocked faces and laugh your heart out ^^ St Paddy's day is increasingly popular in germany for all irish pubs have parties and since I LOVE irish pubs (because they sell guinness!) I'm perfectly happy to go there by train and get stared at for sporting green hair BTW, BF and me now contemplating if we shouldn't model our favorite TV show characters (the characters from Big Bang Theory) but that's probably too exotic for most people to get, hrm *scratches head* But I already have new decoration for my Halloween Tree ^^ It's a tradition I've started here in Aussieland, we take anormal xmas tree and decorate it in halloween-fashion

I like the Halloween tree idea! Find a nice dead-looking willow or something. Pity it's Spring and everything's blooming.

I had once written a story ... about a dead tree ... It was dead because it was its fate ... It kind of had to stop the Apocalypse by being dead ... After fulfilling its task, it was blooming again ...

Hm, I see... Whatever the case, generally we celebrated it by having a costume party. Good luck with dressing up, I for one have never even heard of Big Bang Theory... @ Flix: Cool stuff! @ Alrik: I bet it was a great story, you're a good writer! I believe "Words of the Wind" was my favorite one-book piece of literature in DD!

@ Flix - ye pretty m uch like it @ Handy - well, if finding a scary willow would be possible in dear ol' aussieland, I would ^^ but we use a simpe fake xmas tree I plan though, to form one out of paper-mache when BF & I are in a place longer than some month, that'll be so much fun ^^ @ Alrik - I wanna read that story too!!! @ two - Youtube has it! (at least the first season) it's awesome awesome awesome! (and free!) (that was 2008, the first year of the Halloween Tree tradition) ;D
