@ Glancy - your explaination was nice and hey, being "extreme" is, just to be annoying again something that can be interpreted either way - extreme can be bad (the extremist) but again.. in youth language "extreme" can easily be "uber" "super-" "hardcore" - so I just took it to my young side @ ss - very likely that I handle your religion worse than you handle my atheism, but the 'why' is explained in um.. one of the other 10 thread about the same topic ;D @ whom it may concern - Glancy's sentence: I think we can agree that Elliot is not a 'standard user' in the weighing of words - Kitty's view is closer to 'common usage' by ordinary, averagely educated people - as I said, mostly without even thinking about it. is true, I hadn't think about how to explain THAT and admit that I might be a bit over-language concious, after all I spend a lot of my time with Philosophy Of Language, a descipline of philosophy, so.. ye.. peace yo

It has to be said, you'd be hard pressed to find a truer sentence than that! ;D

Eli - Ye I do, from that polish guy. He said whatever the word, isn't the object it concerns or something along those lines.

"The map is not the territory" Kit, but close enough Just thought if you were interesting in words then the study of the meaning of meaning might appeal. As you know what it is, though, that's that

That's that. But I must say I'm not a big fan of Krysoandso (funny polish name I can't spell), for he misinterpreted Aristoteles.. imho.. and then the Scientologist misinterpreted him.
So ye, I studied him and came to not agree on many levels ;P

Yes I do. I just can't spell his friggin name and was too lazy to look it up.. but ye that guy, he was influenced by Wittgenstein and such and said like 15 times in every sentence how he is anti-aristoteles..

Had some interesting ideas, though, from the little I've read. Though truthfully I read more that was influenced by him, so...

He influenced the "Church Of Scientology" in that they love how he sees everything as analytical, no need for emotions etc.
The guy probably meant good but ignorance ain't bliss afterall.

I don't blame Orwell for Political Correctness, even though they are clearly using 1984 as a 'how to' guide. Similarly, I won't blame Korzybski for Scientology. What other people do with what we conjecture is all too often out of our hands.
