Choices I'm ok with, for my part, except for the Christ Redeemer and maybe the Colloseum. For these two, I would have preferred Angkor, Stonehenge, the Easter Island, the Alhambra, the Acropolis, Neuschwanstein Castle or the Hagia Sophia; Angkor in particular I'm disappointed not to find in. What do you think? Well Fille, I actually agree with you, most of these don't look that special to me at all, I would also choose for Stonehenge and Angkor. And the Easter Island, I must say, I'm a bit dissapointed, I only agree with Macchu Picchu, Chichén Itzá and the Taj Mahal.

I'm ok with the pyramids having been out of the list, for my part, given that they're one of the 7 wonders of the ancient world and that thus it leaves the room for another to be recognized without taking off of the pyramids' prestige; what I don't like is that they were removed of the candidates list while the votes had already begun since a while. As for the age vs the ancient 7 wonders, IIRC the selection then was sticking to elements located roughly around the Mediterranean Sea; that way, sites like Stonehenge, Petra or Angkor were out then. So I'm cool with the list being a lot of ancient structures, on my side, in addition that we didn't do much buildings of this scale and that would resist to the passage of time so well anymore. For what is of modern constructions on these points, I think that the closest we might have are some dam and hydroelectric complexes. A thing with that vote is that the votes could be based on criteria that don't have to do so much with material prowess than with the values, cultures or people that they represent, which leads to completely different results (as we see there, IMO). I'm fine with the two other American choices, however. Why not these 2 as well, TD? ;D There's Petra and the Great Wall that I'm pleased that they made the new 7 wonders list. But in the end, this vote set-up was a way to give visibility to the sites that were nominated and to a part of our cultural heritage, so IMO it was a good. However they start another one, this time to elect the 7 Natural Wonders of the world. ;D

im glad they have a new 7 wonders now. and I like the choices too. I kind of wanted the eiffel tower to be one, and the castle in Germany is just so nice.

late feedback on this thread, but i would like to say what i think anyway. Chichén Itzá, Mexico Christ Redeemer, Brazil The Great Wall, China Machu Picchu, Peru Petra, Jordan The Roman Colloseum, Italy The Taj Mahal, India when i first saw the list i was shocked and disappointed. i really couldn't believe that people would consider these actual wonders of the world. they just don't live up to the meaning for me and i find very little outstanding about some of them. i am really glad that the roman colloseum was chosen. it is one that i feel like truly deserves to be listed. as for Christ Redeemer and the taj mahal, those are truly disappointments. i feel like there are others that deserved the title of being a 7 wonder than these 2. as for the others that were chosen, they are ok but do not stand out that much to me to be called a wonder of the world.
