Good book, but can be heavy going at points. Tolkien wrote it more like a history book than a story, and it kinda shows. He originally intended to write it in Quenya, apparently, but decided quite rightly it would not sell Tolkien was writing myth & legend, and as usual he did a superb job

What do you mean, it wont not sell in Quenya? Doesn't everyone talk elvish Elliot? ;D
As far as i can say, Tolkine writes heavy books, means, not easy to read. Especially for me, I have very little time to read, mostly right before I go to bed. And on top of that, he tends to write in poem form, does he do that in all his books?

I read in other books that Christopher (who kind of compiled everything into the Silmarillion) had not understood the intentions of his father when he compiled it, compared with how he understands his intentions now, and therefore he believes that he should rather not compiled it into the work we all know now, but differently in some ways.
You can find very early versions of everything in the "Unfinished Tales" I think.

And on top of that, he tends to write in poem form, does he do that in all his books? Yes. Poems and Singing are very strong parts of Tolkien's work, though they aren't always integral. Usually what is told in singing in one of the books can be found in narrative form in others. I read in other books that Christopher (who kind of compiled everything into the Silmarillion) had not understood the intentions of his father when he compiled it, compared with how he understands his intentions now, and therefore he believes that he should rather not compiled it into the work we all know now, but differently in some ways. Tolkien never completed his writing, and as such, many of those are in incomplete form. Sometimes the writing contradicted each other, so Christopher did the best he could to bring coherence to them. He was also rushed and, at the time, he didn't had full access to all the manuscripts of Tolkien, later discovered. He indeed said that with more time, and after reading the parts discovered later, The Silmarillion would indeed have been a different work.
