Not crazy about the dragon in this one. He seems to have been overlooked. More detail to him would have made the painting more interesting to me. D & D Air Attack

Hmmmmm, wonder why this one is name Ruby Necklace. The necklace she is wearing barely shows. I guess you are suppose to assume that it is ruby. ;D Ruby Necklace

I like the little dwarves in this painting. They're cute. Dwarven Kingdoms of Krynn

In looking back through Elmore's paintings, even if you didn't know his background, you definitely get the idea he was painting the same characters. It might even say "Hey, what book, story, or series are you illustrating."

More good stuff here, Shan. Conjuring Stone, I remember from an issue of Dragon Magazine. (Dragon, for those who aren't into RPG's, is the official RPG magazine from TSR/Wizards of the Coast.) I'm not aware of a particular context to the picture offhand, though. Dragon Kingdoms of Krynn is cool. I suspect the dwarves in the pic are gully dwarves, who are kind of comic relief characters in Dragonlance. I can't say for sure, but that's my best guess. And yeah, Elmore does indeed like to recur his characters. I like to think of the green dragon in some of these pics as Cyan Bloodbane, the evil green dragon from Dragonlance. (He's on the cover of Dragons of Spring Dawning, if anyone's interested.) I'm not sure I have a favorite of this group, honestly. I like most of them to some extent or another.

one thing that irks me especially in fantasy art where they feature glowing weapons or items held by characters which totally cast NO shadow! what's with that? illusion or just that it's hard to cast the shadow made by such light emission?

I chalk it up to non-shadowy enchantment, Jang. Yeah, that's it... ;D
