Lucasfilm creates special greeting cards for its employees and business partners. This website has a compilation of many of them. Lucasfilm Xmas cardsHere are a couple of the ones I liked.

I know some of them already ... A few images have been made into Star Wars figures in the recent years.

Nice, great find. I had ever seen the Santa-Yoda but it was the only one... And I had never seen the inside picture. There are a good few interesting ones, but those that stand out to me are the Yoda ones, the one with the Jawas, the "Wishing you peace" one and the change of address card, I think. I like that they made their cards miming different "classics" from one year to the other.

The figurine kits are nice too; collector items, probably?

Yep. Depending on where you live, some of them can still be bought. Here in Germany, these things are much more expensive than in the U.S: (a constant source of grief for all Europeans), but in the other hand rare items are longer in hops - for a price, of course. In the U.S. they might be gone since a long time ago("long" in terms of american collectotrs, because such items are going through the markets and ware houses with a faster pace then here in Europe), except for ebay. I have seen the two gift-preparing Jawas in a shop recently in Berlin - one that is very expensive, and the owners seem to know that collectors dare to pay a certain price for *rare* things. Not my cup of tea, though, because I don't pay such high prices ("vote with your wallet ", as the owner of such an collecting-related site always writes), partly because I simply don't have the money for that. So I call myself an "low end collector".

Things like that can always be an "investment", for one that has a very long-term view and the knowledge of these kinds of things. ;D It seems even more at your wallet's advantage to import them if you want to get one though. then, even with the shipping fees. Things like that can make great presents for one that's into the topic.

Yes, I often fear as well, that some people "invest" that way.
The higher price here is due to the tax fees and so on, and a different shop network - they are sold mainly through big warehouses (like the Whale one) in the U.S. , and here mainly through small comic shops etc (except oys r us), which are more or less free in their price settlement.
But the whole costs are higher here, in general, mainly due to the tax fees, and certain EU laws - like having to test such things for possible dangers for children because of the contents of the plastic itself (I mean the chemical consistence).
Oh, I could rant for hours about that ... ;D
