I would have a hard time to believe that they were not made from photos though... But even then, it remains an awesome job and it must have taken so much time to make!

Oh you're referring to photo-realistic paintings. Well... they seem similar to matte paintings which are used by Hollywood and various film studios when they want to create an explosion, combine buildings, people, trees, etc. from several locations into 1 "scene", for serving as a"visual guide" for laying out a complicated set, etc. For example of matte paintings, try this site: www.goodbrush.com

I believe these are vector drawings.

Yeah, those were apparently vector drawings; vector images are digital images that are made out of lines, curves, polygons (so angles/proportions) and color gradients rather than pixels.
There's great stuff in that Goodbrush gallery, though... his paintings of land/cityscapes, especially. Thanks for that link!

Doesn't use Viginia Andrews the same kind of art for her covers?

I don't know... I ran a quick search for pictures of covers of her books but I saw many different styles.

I have the feeling as is there are some parts of photos in them - just the rest is drawn.
But I'm no expert.

There are some truly amazing videos on people speed-painting famous artists and celebrities, and some of those speedpainters make it look just like a photo, many of which use photoshop. There are even those who make astonishing pics with merely Paint, and making it look far too real (Specially the paint-users are amazing, as paint is not made for being that professional, but it CAN be used that way.) If you haven't seen anyone speedpaint or seen the Paint(program)users, then go youtube for especially Speedpaint, Paint MS Car Either way, these pics are cool, but i like it better when you can see how things are made and put together =)
