It wasn't the prettiest game ever, and it won't go down in history as the greatest game ever, but this was a good game none the less.
There are a few key things I'd like to point out thou:
First of all, Tim Duncan. He had a very poor first half, but really turned it around in the second. The last half of the third quarter, he was pretty much unstoppable. He even hit his free throws, which was huge in getting his confidence up.
Manu Ginobli was big as well. He drives for dunks off the hesitation dribble in the second half were a big pick me up, and came at good times.
Of course, there was also Robert Horry. While he didn't really hit any big memorable three pointers like he usually did, it was because he didn't need too. He did make key steals, take key charges, and like Hubie said, he does all the little things that matter, that don't necessarily show up in the box score.
Another big reason San Antonio won was because of Rasheed Wallace. Or the lack of him. No doubt, he had a very good 4th quarter, but that was just too late for him to get going. Certainly his foul trouble limited his effectiveness, but never the less, I can't even remember anything he did before the 4th quarter, and with $20 on the line, I WAS paying attention.
One last big difference in the game was the defense in the second half. Detriot still played good defense no doubt, but San Antonio's was clearly better. Tim Duncan inparticularly did a GREAT job at passing out of the double team and letting his supporting cast hit three pointers.
Overall, Duncan's improved play, and the Spurs improved defense in the second half were the difference makers. The Spurs were the better team, and they definitely earned their third championship in seven years.
