Kenny Rodgers of the Texas Rangers was suspended for 20 games today after shoving two camera men before a game a few days ago.
The initial reaction to this is, WHOA, 20 games, that's a lot! But really, I don't see how this is a big punishment at all. Being a starting pitcher, 20 games equates to 4 or 5 starts. That isn't to say the Rangers best pitcher (and it's by a lot) missing 5 games isn't a big deal, but if MLB wants to come down hard on him, shouldn't they suspend him for say his next 10 scheduled starts or something?
After all, like I said, 20 games is really just 5 for him, because you can probably count on one hand the amount of times you saw a starting pitcher pinch hit or run.
