Just saw this on ESPN, apparently Beckham has injured his knee, and they fear it might be his ACL. This of course would have him be out a year... which means I guess the US won't be catching soccer fever for another year if this turns out to be the case.

Oh that sucks! Means he won't be playing for England, either...
Hope it's not as bad as it seems.

Looks like he'll be out for four weeks, from the English papers. So he should be fine for the US

Beckham needs to start looking out for himself. He has the problem of not being a selfish guy and putting his team ahead of himself. His team and coach have already banished him from the team, and then they recall him and he gladly puts on the jersey for Madrid again. there was a quote in the paper today from the Madrid doctors:
"The Briton is suffering from a second-degree sprain of the internal lateral ligament of the right knee. - Real doctors on the injury.
"The Briton"?? wow. with all the warmth emanating from the team doctors, no wonder Beck's was looking around the clubhouse for an escape hatch. He should have played his last game in Spain. He should refuse to don the colours again. as soon as he gets back to full health he should go immediately to LA, and dare Real to do something about it.

He'll never do that, though. His loyalty to the club he happens to be at is one of his great qualities. That and he tends to answer all his critics on the pitch where it really counts.
Doesn't sound like the club doctors love him though, I have to agree...
Looking like six weeks out now, BTW.
