New season about to begin... Man U look unstoppable, Chelsea a little shaky with all the injuries and Arsenal might as well go home after their recent troubles.
Seems like an easy win for Man U... Or does it?

Well, last season was one of the closest races ever (read: for the last ten seasons ), and I'm sure this year will be just as tough. You allso have to consider that this year Liverpool wants to join the titlerace. So I suspect this year will be as tight as last year, only with three teams instead of two battling for the Premiership. Will be interesting to see what happens when Chelski starts to play "more entertaining" football by the way. Übereil

Liverpool always want to join the title race. They seem to keep tying their shoe laces together before it begins, though... ;D

Yeah, but United have done the same for the seasons before last season, where they managed to get a good start and won because of it. If Liverpool can do the same, they'll be dangerous.
And don't count Arsenal out. That Henry left might even turn out to be a good thing for them, because now their younger players has to take more responsibility. They might even give the other three top teams a run for the money, but I doubt they'll win. Eduardo might prove to be a great signing btw. He's said to be able to score sitters! If it's true, then Arsenal is the team of his dreams! ;D

Problem with Arsenal is that they built their team around Henry. They'll need time to adjust.
Liverpool have had the same problem for a long time now - over-reliance on one or two key players, and complete inconsistency. One week they'll be the greatest team in the world; next week a group of pensioners could beat them 10-0. There's just no predicting what they'll be like in any given match. Until they get past those two problems, they'll always be a not quite good enough team.

On the other hand, Arsenal's problems LAST year came from Henry being injuried, so they got time back then to readjust. And Pool's biggest problem during the last years have been that they're not good enough, really. Back when they had Owen he was pretty much the only thing they had (agreed, total reliance, but most teams does it really. And I really mean ONLY thing they had. That and a good defensive line), and he was injuried more often than not. Since Owen left they've pretty much have had no real goalscorer, and considering that their best offensive player have been Stevie G, it's no wonder they haven't even been close to winning for the last decade. Don't get me wrong, Stevie G is a great player, but he's no Ronaldo or Henry, and that's what Pool have lacked. With the arrival of Fernando Torres they might get that player (I doubt Torres is fit for the Premiership though, didn't want him in United for that reason). And remember, last year a weak start was the only thing between them and a race for the title . If they can get their game on from game one they can challenge United and Chelsea. But United looks even stronger than last year... Übereil

United do look stronger, yeah.
Pool haven't been bad - they've usually managed top five - but they have been underwhelming in terms of their past history. They are absolutely reliant on Gerrard, sure, but he has somewhat better back up than Owen did. The no strikers thing is indeed a killer, though.
Pool talk a good game right now - but they always talk a good game. It's the quality of their football that lets them down.

Yeah, they've been saying "this year is the year" since the early 90's! ;D
And the problem isn't being reliant on Gerrard, because I think he can cope with that. The problem is that where Pool have one main player, the other clubs had two or three. Gerrard can't do everything himself, and that's Pools problem.

So did Arsenal, twice. Unfortunately, I think United & Arsenal were the ONLY teams the Hammers beat last year! ;D

Well Pool have never got width in the side and lack a good striker...with Kuyt and Torres that should fill the problem but we still lack a(or two) good winger(s).

Rooney injured and a 0-0 draw with Reading... Not the most auspicious start for Man U ;D
The biggest shock though has to be Chelsea's 3-2 win over Birmingham. If they can get that close to beating Chelsea, Birmingham will make the Prem pretty lively this season. A great start from them.

Rooney injured and a 0-0 draw with Reading... Not the most auspicious start for Man U ;D The only thing United missed that game (and I really mean the only thing, they had everything else) was goals. Pity Rooney got injuried (naturally : , he WOULD have scored if he hadn't had to go off. Oh well, now we'll see if Tevez is up for it. Übereil

Did Arsenal get relegated last year, Elliot?
And do I need to point out that City had pretty much maximum luck in today's game?
