Not sure how accurate or otherwise this info is, but it seemed worthy of discussion, at the least: Hair dye: Health hazard?

Depends on the pigments used.
Some are known to be rather ... "difficult".
This is rather old stuff, I learned about this several years ago, in combination with T-Shirts and clothes stuff.
Some pigments are forbidden in the EU because of their health rists, but imported clothes still often have them.
You should - as a general rune ! - wash all of your *new* coloured clothes because of that ! Especially T-Shirts !

I dye my hair a lot, I had red hair for two weeks and now I'm back to dark brown ;D I'm still alive and kicking! I try to use products that are soft in use, not aggressive. And dying your hair in a darker color then your own, is better then bleeching it. The ammoniac in the bleeching products are very aggressive for your skin. As soon as a product starts to itch, remove it from your head. And never use those products for othe hair then your scalp, not even for your eyebrows.

It wouldn't surprise me if some of the dyes' components were... It's strong stuff and it sticks for a long time. Same for make-up; we can find surprising things (all kinds of metals, for example) when looking into the ingredients list.

The dye is carcinogenic. Personally I dye my hair gray so that I look older and get respect; at least that is what I tell people. They never believe me though.

While grey hair doesn't earn respect, it may help create the illusion of wisdom. And who talks of the multiple health hazard to the eyes that some of these dyes have?

And who talks of the multiple health hazard to the eyes that some of these dyes have? Maybe that's why there is noted on the product not to put it in your eyes? ;D

Hmmm... I think the problem is that some folks tend to not read any warnings and they use it for errr... dyeing the hair on their face or for their eyebrows or even eyelashes. And of course, that's when you really could go blind. And another possible cause is that some people don't bother to protect their eyes... when using hair dye. They just let that stuff drip all over their face and even swallow some of it by mistake(we hope!). Or they touch their eyes with their gloves still soaked in dye(yikes!). About health hazards: of course there're hazards with almost every cosmetic you use and product you consume/utilise. I think the problem here might actually be the issue of using too many chemicals at once. From food and beverages to environmental to even cosmetics or even shower cream or shoes or clothes, etc., there're lots of chemicals everywhere and a lot of people absorb something between 100 to 200 or even 300 chemicals everyday. At which point, you might actually develop allergies and other health issues 'cos of certain chemical reactions.
