England's regular international side may be useless these days, but the same clearly cannot be said for our gay footballers! Stonewall Lions win the gay World CupCongrats to the Stonewall Lions on a fine win

I realise it's old now but I've only just read this and found it quite odd TBH. Why on earth is there a separate league for gay men? Heh, it seems a bit strange as there is no rule prohibiting gay men and women from participating in regular football (at least as far as I know) so to me there seems to be no need for a Gay World Cup.

There's no actual prohibition, but given the current 'unwritten rule' that all players are straight, you'd have to be beyond brave to admit to being a gay player.
For all the FIFA rules about discrimination, I couldn't name a single professional footballer who is openly gay. I'd bet most football fans couldn't.
This, I suspect, is why there is a gay league.
My main point, though, was England winning something. The 'gay' part was kinda secondary ;D

There is several "niche" leagues out there and Denmark once won the world cup for homeless people. It's a nice idea though not very widely reported on. In fact, the only place I remember reading about that world cup is in "Hjem forbi" - a newspaper written and sold by homeless people. It's probably been reported elsewhere but not massively so most people would've just skimmed over it..
