Though I hate the color pink, this dolphin calf looks soo darn cute! I do hope it will be left alone, we all know what happens if humans interfere with the wild life.

Awww, it must not be very practical to be an air-breathing aquatic animal and albino. The pinkness may be sunburn...

I saw a news report on TV last night (well kinda flipped past it, but still), so I guess it's not made up.
Unless the news was saying "and so, the latest hoax..." Admittedly, I wasn't listening. ;D Just saw Pinkie swimmin around and moved on.

But also:
If it's a hoax or not, that is the question...

Comments are always entertaining to read. ;D That breast cancer awareness thing, lol... If you look at pictures of Peruvian pink dolphins, their body and head shape is particular.

if you think about it, it is very plausible. an albino is something/someone with no pigmentation in the skin/hair/fur etc. so if the dolphin has no pigmentation, it should be white. BUT the skin of a dolphin is wayyy different to anything else we know is albino. it could be thicker/thinner anything really. i'm no dolphin expert so idk. i mean look at like salmon and whale blubebr or something idk. ... ok just google imaged dolphin meat www.whales.org.au/news/images/A_meat-s.jpgshizuokagourmet.files.wordpress.com/2008/02/dolphin-meat.jpg[decided not to directly post imaes incase people got upset or something] but you can see it does have a pinkish tinge to it compared with other red meat. so based on this i conclude that if the skin is different and perhaps, see through/translucent, then the pink would be caused by the red/pink meat/inside bits going through the skin or something. idk can people see my point? its hard to explain.

There are plenty of other 'pink albino' creatures in nature. They are just not quite THAT pink, normally. Interesting, though, if rather weird...

Personally I think this particular dolphin is a hoax. As Fille posted links with a Peruvian pink Dolphin, that pink looked more like pork skin color instead of Paris Hiltons pink. I'm surprised that she didn't claim the dolphin as her new pet, but then again, it doesn't fit in her purse

Yannow... I don't see a big difference between the color of the dolphin flesh and that of most other mammalian raw flesh. I didn't know it was fished commercially though. As for the flashing pinkness, a lot of (if not most) digital cameras tend to give oversaturated reds, so it may have to do with a photography thing to an extent. If it's not a hoax. ;D I think it's plausible, though.

but also if you look carefully at the pictures the reflection in the water is pink even if you went to the effort of doing that for a hoax, it would surely be impossible to get it all right? the texture of the water would be hard to change the colour and stuff surely?

Yeah, I meant that the report and photos are what I think is plausible, lol. Also it would surely be hard to get it all right if it was a photomanipulation, but then again some people's talent and motivation is incredible so I personally don't rely on the assumption that photomanipulation is always recognizable...
