All joking aside, what does everyone think so far?
IT has a 6% mortality rate, from what they figure so far, which is x2 that of the Influenza pandemic during 1918 which killed 50,000,000 people.
If this gets out of control, you could be looking at anywhere from 50,000,000 to 300,000,000 dead.

But reports have claimed that the mortality rate will decrease significantly. I read about a theory today saying that a mortality rate of 1/1000 is the most likely. Because a higher mortality rate will ensure that the virus doesn't spread enough. Of course, that's just a theory.

^ So we were at the doctor yesterday and they realized that BF developed Bronchitis now through the flu. Apperently, this type of flu weakens the immunesystem more then "normal" flu and yea, now his lunges aren't so happy... ...and yes he gets proper meds. It's 9:30pm now and his fever is finally under 38°C

Here in my home town, a few schools have been closed shortly before the annual summer vacation time. It is even thought of artificially expanding the vacation time a bit more after their official end. Here in Germany, the Spanish island of en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Majorca is greatly popular as a vacation spot. Hence, from there many ill people travel home to Germany (after their spent vacation time there) and elsewhere without knowing they have this special kind of flu. Having arrived here in Germany, they instantly get into quarantine, which mostly means staying at home and not be allowed to go out for a while. This island has become kind of a ... what's the word ? We call it a "traffic knot", like a street cross, where everyone meets. This enables the flu to spread into different countries. The authorities on the island, however, appear to be playing the danger down ... Or at least some newspaper articles here indicate to that. In my own family there's none ill this far, although my parents & my sister had been there one or two months ago. Our only worries are now with a good friend of my sister (they're kind of childhood friends), who will be travelling to the island in a few weeks, as far as I understood it.

People still holiday in Mallorca? Oh well.
Get your friend a big pack of Paracetamol. Keeping fevers down is most important. And force him/her to wear a scarf and socks (I know it's summer in Germany but still, sweating is good).
Home your sis' friend's fine.
