Yep, this movie is enough to disprove the divine. Its badness is appalling. It is. Honestly stunningly bad. The plot is more holed than a Tiger which just fought 2 companies of T-34's. The characters are *EXTREMELY* poorly used and displayed. And as a SPOILER! SPOILER ALERT!- Deadpool has his mouth shown shut, and then is morphed into a giant monster with huge claws, Cyclop's eyebeams, telepathy, and is controlled by Styker, before being beheaded by Wolverine after he bands together with Sabertooth. What an atrocious [Censored]ing movie. Be warned. 3/10. "Whoever pirated X-Men Origins: Wolverine got a punishment that fit the crime. " regulus2.azstarnet.com/blogs/philmguy/14594

What an atrocious [Censored]ing movie. Be warned. So, it wasn't supposed to go that way? ;D Although I didn't hate it, I can see why some people were disappointed. However, since I went in there with the mentality of this being a stand alone from everything, I was even able to enjoy it. Probably helped by the fact that I've read no X-Men comic and have seen only a bit of the 90s TV series. But yeah, I wanted more from the characters too. It's like they just wanted to toss them all in, and toss them all out just as quickly. There was very little 'character' to most of them. But like I said, I enjoyed it fine. Hey, it was better than X-Men 3. Killerzzz

It seems like the X-Men movie mentality is "let's cram as many mutants into as many pointless action scenes as possible."
Not to mention the last three movies already might as well have been titled "Wolverine: Featuring the X-Men"
The first one was the only one worth watching, let alone buying.

Not being an x-men afficianado, the movie didn't bother me, I rather enjoyed the action, seeing gambit was cool, but like everyone else said...outside Wolverine and Sabretooth you don't actually KNOW any of the other characters.
The action sequences were great. Overall I enjoyed it...
My biggest problem...TOO MUCH CGI ON WOLVERINE'S CLAWS!!!!!

Yes, I finally saw this film. Call it morbid curiosity. ;D
While I'll agree it's not X3 bad (though X3 was mainly ruined by the craptastic ending), this film indeed had its share of problems. That said, it's enjoyable enough until you get to the ending for the most part.
I got the sense that they were trying to tie together all the various elements of Wolverine's past and build a story around those plot points. Which is fine; the same approach worked pretty well for the Batman films.
The problem is that they've done it badly. Mainly because they're using the wrong pieces, and adding things that don't work.
For one thing, they drew on the Origin mini for the opening sequence, and they didn't even do that effectively. I'll admit I don't much like Origin... partly I prefer some mystery to Logan's past, and partly I just don't like the "privileged rich kid grows up to be Wolverine" angle. Origin stopped short of establishing Logan and Creed as brothers (thankfully), but the movie firmly established the idea. Which is a mistake, IMO... I think they make more sense as rivals who aren't related. I'm not even sure the film needed that whole segment.
The second problem is Silver Fox. Or "Cayla", as she's called in the film. The ending is overcomplicated nonsense, in part because they overplayed her character. She worked best as a corpse for me, because her death gives Logan the motivation to hate Creed. Bringing Silver Fox back from the dead as part of a government coverup was stupid when Larry Hama did it in the Wolverine comics, and it's even more stupid in this film. It kills Logan's entire driving force to even be involved in this story. Nor does it even make any sense for Stryker to leave her alive, since he could have simply taken her powers (the only useful advantage she has) and let Creed kill her. I won't even comment on how ridiculous it is that Emma Frost was established as her sister. All in all, the use of her character is contrived and absurd.
And then there's Deadpool... what a great terrible mess this is. If they'd just disfigured Ryan Reynolds and given him some extra powers, that would have been fine. Giving him a version of Logan's healing factor makes sense with the canon. Giving him Wraith's teleportation is also okay, since Deadpool teleports around in the comics. But the rest... just no. The additional powers are needless overkill. And taking away Deadpool's mouth destroys the entire point of the character; he's "The Merc With A Mouth" for a reason, after all. Had they kept with Reynolds' original portrayal, it would have been fine... but needless tinkering just wrecked the whole thing.
To be fair, though, there are some redeeming features. Certain parts of it worked for me, mainly when they stuck to the good parts of the canon (such as the Weapon X stuff and Silver Fox's death), and a couple of added moments (the fight with the Blob was nice, and Gambit came across quite well). But it was very much a failed patchwork job and it shows.
