They are doing a relaunch of BuffyNo Joss Whedon, no Willow, Xander or Spike. Dark Knight Buffy? Sorry you have just earned my wrath... Yes I know Buffy was a bit dark at times but I don't want to see Buffy dressed up in a batsuit and growling at her enemies, and the Master looking even more clownish than he already does.

Um, what? They can't be serious. I cannot see that going anywhere without Joss Whedon or those characters. Fans would probably kill people.
I really dislike the character of the Master, he is so silly.
Buffy to me is at its best when it is perfectly mixing its weird brand of humour with all the crazy dramatics. I love that it doesn't take itself too seriously.

Joss only ever had part of the rights to Buffy as co-creator of the original concept. These are the people with the other half and they have been talking about doing something with the character for a long time. All it has ever been so far, though, is talk.
Given that the Slayer concept is pretty eternal, I see no reason whatsoever why it has to be 'Buffy The...' I think that will actually hurt rather than help them as a lot of people will be put off by the idea of a reinvention.
Battlestar Galactica was ready for reworking as it had been... what, 25 years? 30? since the original. Buffy the TV series hasn't even been gone 10 yet, has it? Even ignoring the line of Buffy comics, which was still with us last time I looked. It's just far too soon to even think about a new and unrelated Buffy series.
If they take the next Slayer and set it ten years on from the end of the TV series in some other part of the world with Buffy dead and her gang nowhere close, they have possibilities. Buffy fans may well give that a chance.
But the current idea is just not a good plan, IMO.

Terrible idea on so many levels.
Joss Whedon really should be involved on anything involving the Buffyverse, considering that he was the prime mover in creating it. It´s Whedon who gave the series the tone and style that it has, and he knows it best. And frankly, it brings more legitimacy to a Buffyverse film if his name is attached, even if only as executive producer or whatever.
I also think that it´s just too early to think about rebooting the franchise. The show´s started only, what, 12-13 years ago? Not nearly long enough to need a restart, especially when compared to Star Trek or Doctor Who, which have been around for over 40 years.
The Buffyverse isn´t so bloated with bad or outdated ideas that it needs to start over. Ditching the universe Whedon built only weakens the franchise right now. And there´s no reason you can´t work with an older Buffy at this point either... unless the goal is to drop her back in high school. And really, couldn´t they do that with one of the countless other Slayers out there?
Pointless and silly, you ask me.

I think that will actually hurt rather than help them as a lot of people will be put off by the idea of a reinvention. This is what I don't understand. Buffy is already a franchise and wanting to add onto that is understandable, but if you're going to completely change it so that is has no relation to tv show Buffy, why not make it about an earlier or later slayer? Her story is too well known to mess with it like this. Buffy only ended in 2003, so yes it is way too early to be doing this anyways.
