Anybody check out this fantastic animated series?
This is easily the best Spider-Man animated series ever and close to the best Superhero series ever!
Heck this Spider-Man series is the best spider-man in any media for a long time!

Watched the first three so far. It's the best take on Spidey I've ever seen, I have to say. Granted it's early days, but they are doing a lot right. Electro really works. Love his 'tortured but angry' background. First time The Vulture has ever seemed like more than a joke. Really like the new look costume. The Lizard is... Well, The Lizard. Never needed much changing there, really. Norman Osbourne is being established pretty well. The rest of the supporting cast are kind of eh, though. Flash is the same as always, and Ult Gwen remains by far the best version of Gwen. This one is kinda boring, so far. Nonetheless - Peter is actually both likable and believably a teenager and he's the core of the series, so... Time to watch a few more, I think!

Shocker - boring. No real motivation. Sandman - good. Career criminal like Shocker, but he has actual personality and they use his power set well, so that works.
Like how Osbourne is developing, too...
LOVE the in-joke about MJ. "She has a great personality?!? OMG! She must look awful!" Can't wait for Peter to meet her... ;D

Rhino is cool. And I see MJ got to use her most famous line... So far, still good.

MJ is awesome! Tombstone keeps getting better. Like this version of GG, too. Not sure who he is as they're being coy...
I like the way they seem to have blended a lot of the best elements of the original & the Ult versions of things, then added a few twists of their own.

If this series doesn't create a whole new generation of Spider-Man fans I don't know what will.
I wish Marvel would get these guys on the Spider-Man comics. They know how everything works, with respect to classic Spidey, yet it also feels fresh.
This is one of the series I could honestly see myself watching a couple times a year.
Okay I'll stop praising it lol.

Just finished the first series. REALLY good stuff. Long as they keep the quality up, I'll surely keep watching. And I'm sure that sooner or later there will be DVDs...

What did you think of the second battle with the Sinister Six E? I have to say I loved how the Black costume just took over.
EDIT: Oh and I forgot to mention: Spectacular Spider-Man season 1 is coming out on DVD on The 28th I think.

I thought that was great, SPS, I have to admit. Peter's slow realisation that the symbiote was not exactly his best friend after all was incredibly well handled.
I like that they made Norman Osbourne a LOT more like Lex Luthor. He really works that way. I also like the bickering in the Sinister Six, because they have their own agendas. That was very true to life. As long as we do NOT see any of the old obsessions with Spidey sneaking in (Except with Venom, because the symbiote has a real reason) I'll be happy.
Actually, I hope there's no return for Venom at all. It should rightly be a story with no sequel.
Still not really warming to most of the supporting cast, bar MJ, but at the least they are not annoying. There's a kind of sense to most of them - even Flash, who is starting to come over as more than just 'The School Bully'.

And having watched the entire second season, I have to say this is without any doubt at all the best version of Spidey ever. Not just a fantastic finale, but the character of Peter himself is NOT a two-faced hypocrite who blames his own shortcomings on other people while claiming to have responsibility - my usual main problem with the character.
This Peter is a pretty typical teen. he messes up, makes mistakes - and then admits he made them! AND tries to put them right!
The villains don't obsess over Spidey and they want to remove him as a means to an end, not an end in itself. No character has yet been over-used or driven into the ground... The supporting cast all work...
Spidey done right. I take my hat off to the writers!

I absolutely loved the second season of the show. The finale was amazing too. Like I've said before in the chat seeing the twist at the end made me want to go back and watch the entire series from the beggining. Which is a very rare occurence for me.
Now I'm eagerly awaiting the announcement of a third season. Weisman has said he hopes to do 65 episodes, and I hope that even if it does poorly on Disney, that DVD sales will allow the series to continue.
This series always has me going "yes!" and puts a smile on my face whenever its on.

Fortunately for me, I watched the lot in pretty close succession with few breaks - and yes, it DOES all add up! The clues are there if you only know what you are looking at - which you won't until the finale, of course! And no, I didn't see the big reveal coming at all...
The greatest weakness of the original comic series was always Peter himself and the incredibly weak motivations of his villains - not a problem, here. The greatest weaknesses of the Ult version were Bendis' inability to plot and do fight scenes - neither of which is remotely a problem, here.
They also avoided the major snare of trying to do yet another Bridge scene, thankfully. But then, as this version of Gwen is neither a doormat nor a dead-end character, they didn't need to...

A rumor I've heard is that they MAY do the Death of Gwen thing for a direct-to-dvd special, if they get around to doing it.

I haven't watched American cartoons in forever. Mainly 'cos of the utterly brain cell killing storylines and the stereotypes. What I liked so far after watching the first Spiderman Episode one: 1) the voice acting Good voice-acting, no accents that're either overdone or ill-fitting to the roles. And no SQUEAKY females. 2) they didn't try to imitate "anime" No trying to pull off what they think is "anime": plotlines, art style(big big eyes), etc. 3) the artstyle It has its own style and I like the colours. The entire artstyle is simple and easy on the eyes: easier to replicate and probably to manage production costs. 4) Writing: not too bad. Conversations feel real not too contrived, not too many cheesy "characters are bad/good 'cos they're supposed to be bad/good" roles, there's real conflict, real feelings, etc. And the main characters feel authentic. As for character development, will have to finish watching S1. I just finished watching E1. Oh and I'll state that I was no fan of the Spiderman movies: I only watched the first 1 or 2.

They REALLY need to get over this pathological need to kill everyone they can find called Gwen. It's just unnecessary.

Just finished watching the second season again, and I must say that I still wish that we were reading about THIS Norman Osborn in the comics. He's deluded but not crazy. You almost want to believe him when he says he's doing these things for his son, when he's not. Yet you see him for the brutal man he really is. So here's what I would like to see for the third season: Scorpion- Gargan is the only major Spider-Villain we haven't seen yet! Hobgoblin- Though I would prefer if they gave the Goblins a rest for the third season. The Prowler- C'mon! Hobie has got to be tired of only getting some brief lines! The return of Lizard- IIRC Spidey first fought the Lizard in the swamps of Florida. The Spider-Slayers- Perhaps this would lead into the next idea I have... The Clone saga- They are hinting very heavily at Miles Warren becoming the next big bad. I would love to see a respectful version of the Clone Saga done. Oh and NO deaths yet! At least not until the series finale.

Hobgoblin- Though I would prefer if they gave the Goblins a rest for the third season. I think Weisman said that Hobgoblin will be used in Season 3. Also, the ideal final episode of the series that Weisman wants to do would be about Peter and the rest graduating from high school, so I don't believe they'd want to kill off Gwen during that time, if they're still thinking about doing it. But even then he wants to be able to continue on after the show ends with specials or whatever.
