Good idea? Bad idea? Love or hate them?
Opinions, please!

1: They're too big. The other forums gets pushed too far down the screen. 2: They look a slight bit too messy. Apart from that I like them. Übereil

I'm leaving it at the top two sections, for now, until I get an idea of whether people like this idea or not. When they are all done, every section should be easy to find & easy to read, even though the board will be somewhat longer. I figure longer & clearer is an exchange worth making Thoughts? (Not ignoring you, Ube, BTW. Just want many opinions at this stage...

They will add a little bit of load time, but they are PNG files - they are minuscule. Even the biggest one so far is only a little over 5KB. They're smaller than most avatar files.

Uh-oh! Side-effects! When in a thread, you can no longer click on a link to return to the board. I just says "The Chaos Cascade :: World of Choas :: :: Thread Name" See that empty space? Also, related situation, the title no longer appears in the window bar. So, for example, mine would say "The Chaos Cascade - - Mozilla Firefox" when there should be "The General Forum" between the dashes. The second thing isn't so important, but the first is a little more inconvenient for smoothly bouncing around the forum. Sorry. Killerzzz

Yeah, that's not so good! I hadn't even thought to check for that...
Deal killer or not?

Idea! Lightbulb! Put away the candle! Okay, it might have set me against it, might have killed the deal for me, but there is a work-around! All you need is a littlest bit of text in the title with the image. Even something small, like a dash, a period, a colon. This way the forum can interpret it and make a link for returning to the board from a thread. Cuz that was my main problem with it: I can deal with the lack of title in my window bar just when I'm looking at a whole board. Let's see what everyone thinks. Can that help it? Fixie that situation? Cuz I DO like it. Killerzzz

It should certainly work, yes. Before making more changes, I'll wait for more opinions, though...

The many different fonts make things a bit messy. I like the idea of bigger titles, but make it all uniformly *EDIT: What happened to the stars above everyone's name? I liked the simple row of stars more than this system.

Yeah, they do too messy; I much prefered the previous setup. Plus, some words would badly need better antialiasing. Also, did you touch to anything else? There's no link to return to the board a thread is in from the topic and that's annoying me a lot. Example: on top of the topic is: The Chaos Cascade :: World Of Chaos :: :: Post Message instead of The Chaos Cascade :: World Of Chaos :: General :: Post Message

(Anti-whating? I thought that was just a weird settng on computer games... ;D)
I'm a bit stunned that several of you at least don't use tabs when browsing, too...
The missing part is caused by pics instead of text, Fille. Kaz has a clever workaround for that...

I use tabs while browsing, but rarely within CC itself, as there was little need until now.
They're ugly and too big and they clash with the other half of the forum titles that remain small and blue. I use the zoom function on Firefox because I have a large monitor, it keeps all the text on CC a nice large size, yet now all text is dwarfed by the ridiculously huge titles. Zooming in is still preferable because other text is so small, but now unmangeable because the titles are gigantic.
Reduce their size, make the font choice reflect the subject matter in at least some way (fashion and culture has a vampire font and humanology has a sterile, robot font), and apply it to all forum titles, and it might not look like someone hacked CC.
The new stars above the names are ugly as well, but I don't really care about those so no suggestions.

Well, I do use tabs within it when I need to read earlier posts in the thread (earlier than the last page that is), but I never know when I need to do that. Which makes that link very useful. Now I'll have to go back to the base forum and find the thread there. ...even worse is that I can't get back to the forum once I've posted my message. That's REALLY annoying. Übereil

Too many fonts make it difficult to read. Perhaps an icon next to each name instead?

I don't like!
Reasons all said before.
If you want to 'pictualize' the thread titles, give them an adequate icon, but with the fonts, I see no benefit.
