Well, its not that immoral by internet standards. ;D In a nutshell... I made an awesome awesome music video for a game. I tried contacting the game company, got a generic answer (which left a loophole giving me the green light ). Second e-mail for clarification ("so you're saying I can do it if I do such-and-such?"), no reply. Okay then. Tried contacting the distributor of the song. Got told by a machine several times that it was not office hours, even when it was office hours. And charged for long distance calls (I guess it wasn't a toll-free 1-800 number...). Thanks. Can't find a way to contact them any other way. So, should I do the right thing and just upload it to youtube? I think so. Just want to know what you guys think. ;D Killerzzz

Morally, you've done pretty much everything you can to secure their permission. Legally, you can't proceed without that permission.
They will probably ignore you as long as you are making no money on it, but there's a chance YouTube may take it down. If they spot it.
It may be worth sending another e-mail or two just so you can really be sure you're tried your best.

But lawyers are never nice. Well, when you're on opposing sides. ;D Suggestion: don't air it, don't even put it up anywhere.

You can upload it as a private file (if YouTube doesn't allow it, you could use a generic file sharing service like 4Shared) and post a password-protected link/zip in the Photography board, which is only accessible to registered members; that way it shouldn't count as "published" and would leave you safe no matter what.

or wait for a cease & desist order. I like this idea! ;D I've been sitting on this for years, so two e-mails and several phone calls is as political as I'm going to get. I think I'm going to post it on youtube when I get back from waycaywschonne. And if they remove it, I'll do something like Fille's suggestion. Thanks for the advice, guys! Killerzzz

If you want at least someone to see it, give us the honor of doing so You could send it to us in the way Fille suggested for example. I'd gladly watch it. And comment it, if you want constructive comments or just simply want to be praised ;D
