My first instinct is: too soon.
I actually find it kinda weird that the franchise they definitely should have rebooted (Superman) they didn't and the franchise they probably can't get away with rebooting for a while yet, they're trying to reboot.
Whereas Batman got it about right, with audiences about ready for a new take, yet another Spidey origin (Or in high school, which amounts to the same) would seem premature, to me. The last Spidey film is just too recent.
Still, time will tell, I guess...

I agree. I also think that the X-Men franchise needs more work than the Spider-Man franchise. While Spider-Man has had only one sort of eh film the X-Men franchise has had two.

Agreed. The X-franchise lost its way when star power became more important than story and it hasn't got out of that morass, yet.
They just have not learned the lessons that made the recent Batman and Spider films so popular.

One good thing that can come of this: a real Venom that will last more than a movie-ending. Otherwise, I'm not sure what to think. Killerzzz

I'm for it. Screw it. I want a whole movie devoted to Venom. No more shoving as many characters in as we can. And not another origin story. The first Raimi Spiderman was the only good one anyway.
