Not even sure why the school had to make this into an issue. What on Earth do they think is going to happen at their prom that they had to cancel the whole thing to stop two girls dancing together?
As far as I understand these things, a prom is a pretty strictly controlled dance, right? Or am I missing something?

I'm not so sure there, Elliot - about the control, I mean...
However, one thing could be said - those girls won't fool around with boys...

And they're less likely to end up with STD's too.

EK: It's not about practical effects of homosexuality. It's immoral, and any conservative school worth its salt would cancel an entire event rather than condone a homosexual couple. It doesn't matter if they're not going to have sex on the dance floor. Their very presence there would represent decaying American morals, etc.
Btw, this happened in my home state, Mississippi. I think elsewhere I've painted a pretty good picture of a backward, racist, hopelessly conservative state, and this incident just fills out the picture.

I respect your point of view, however, I have to disagree.

I think Flix is saying that's how THEY think, Rodney, not how HE thinks. He's trying to explain the mentality to me, as he thinks I don't get it (And he's right! ;D).
***
Flix - yeah, you have... I still find the picture you painted horrifying.

Oh yes, sorry. That first bit was coated with sarcasm. I only adopted that tone of righteous prejudice because I grew up surrounded by it.

Is that why you left Mississippi.?? ;D I have my fair share of good memories and good people there too, of course. It is still, after all, home.
