*E - just checking, i don't know if I made it clear in my post, but Ash was also suppose to be checking the door for traps. If it was not stated correctly, then she does so now."
Ash also checks the door for traps before she and Mao leave to head back to the group.
She then turns to Mao and whispers "I think we should go tell everybody about what we found before trying to open any door. Rasidar, Stel and Cedric are alot stronger than we are and if we run into trouble it would be good to have them with us. I'm ready to head that way if you are."

Ash
You never said you were checking the door for traps before, no. Unless You explicitly state you're checking, I tend to assume you aren't.
There are no traps on the door that you can find.

Mao makes a last check at the door and around. (Elliot - are there any signs that it was used recently/often; does the wood seem pretty new/old, are there debris or dust around?)
"I am; we should join them where they are instead of signaling them to come since the noise might alert what's in the room out there." Mao answers. (If Homm & Yairn didn't follow them, she adds: "And keep an eye open for Homm and Yairn.")
She then advances back on their previous tracks, silently and her back following (but not rubbing against) the wall.

Mao
No debris or dust, and the door seems as good as new. There's no sign of wear - or use - at all.

*E - Understood *
"Gotcha," said Ash with a grin. "Let's go."
As Ash and Mao make their way back to the interseciton still being as quiet as possible, Ash runs her hand along the way.
"Strange," she thinks to herself, "very strange. Everything is so smooth, it's not dirty and doesn't seem to be worn or used, but yet the globes in the ceiling don't work. Wierd place." She then with just a hint of a smile she thinks "I bet we've been kidnapped by aliens and are on their spaceship headed back to some far off planet." She then almost giggles, but catches herself just in time.
Assuming Homm and Yairn did not go with them, Ash and Mao meet back up with them at the intersection if they are there. If Homm and Yairn went with them, then they stop at the intersection (Ash and Mao do).
"I think we should go tell the group what we have found," whispers Ash. "There will be less chance of us being heard back there than there is here. If you agree, then let's go. I'm getting hungrier and hungrier by the minute."

while Ash & Mao are checking the right corridor, Homm squats at the intersection in darkness thinking;
bah! women! again! this time, she has my ball! my glowing ball!
Homm espresses his disgust by flinging his hands in the air, not caring if Yairn sees it (albeit in darkness) or not. he calms down after a short while & thinks again;
alright, what now? we have three corridors; left one is lit while the rest isn't. somehow the right one has something different too but i should not be too hasty until the animal-like girl & that pesky overly-cautious ..... fehh! i can't even think of any word to describe her!
sensing Yairn next to him, he pats Yairn on the shoulder & whispers to him, "best that you get back to the main group & let them know of what we know so far. i will wait for the two, in case they need help. ... & do check with them if they have enough of what's left of their cloth to make one long rope since they have to travel in darkness so we do not want them to stumble all over the place & rouse some friendly neighbours."

In his meditation, Cedric hears the faint sound of rolling glass on stone. He opens his eyes and sees a distant flickering, though it's hard to judge the distance with no references in between.
"There doesn't seeem to be anything of importance between here and where they're now - how about closing the distance?" he suggests to Rasidar.

Reaching the intersection Ash sees Homm squatting there. He looks rather disturbed about something, so she walks up to him, sits down on her knees next to him, grins and says softly "Whatcha up to Little Sneak?" Without giving him time to answer Ash continues "You wanna know what we found? We found another door and it has a stinky smell coming from behind it." After swapping stories about what they found, Ash turns and heads back down the hallway where the group is still waiting motioning for the others to hurry up and come with her. She is bouncing with excitement over what they have found and can hardly wait to tell what she and Mao found. About halfway to the group, she starts to yell "Guess what we found," but before she makes a sound she clasps her hand over her mouth remembering that she should still be as quiet as possible and hurries even faster. Upon reaching the group, Ash can stand it no longer and her excitement come bubbling out. "Gues what we found. Guess what we found," she says softly but excitedly. "We found doors." Catching Mao giving her a hard look, Ash calms down just a little and asks softly "Do you want to hear all about our news right here or do you want to go back in the room so we can talk and then you guys can decide what to do next without chancing being over heard?" *edited to give the impression that Ash was not yelling as Max took it. she was only talking softly instead of whispering. i forget sometimes people don't read the way i think *

"Once Scimitar is finished with her task," Rasidar says. "`Twould not be proper to leave her behind without informing her first."
*
When Rasidar sees Ash and Mao make their way back, he takes a moment in the last room to find Scimitar.
"Scimitar, Mao and Ash have returned," he says to Scim. "Feel free to rejoin the party once you have completed your search. I advise as much haste as you can spare. We shall be moving ahead soon."
Rasidar then heads back to the party, allowing Scim to join him or not as she chooses...
"`Twould be best to report here for now," Rasidar says. "The other group still hasn't reported back yet. `Tis no danger, provided we keep our voices low enough."
He then considers Ash's news of doors. Rasidar gives Ash and Mao an approving nod.
"Good work, both of you," he says. "The doors might be worth inspecting. `Twould be interesting to know what lies beyond. What else do you know of them?"

Once Ash and Mao had gone, Yairn glanced around the coridor one more time then started to move back to the group.
He saw Ash up ahead bounding with excitement and shouting. It was a silly mistake and one that could've blown their cover.
But Yairn rejoined the group and described what he had found in a hushed tone. "Yes there were just three doors, one in each direction. We decided not to open them until we had more backup." Yairn explained "But it would seem that there's not enemies in the immediate area. Though I would not suggest shouting" He gave Ash a quick look then turned back to Rasidar. It seemed they were all ready to move forward.

Ash gives Yairn a hard look and says softly "I wasn't yelling. For your info that was only a slightly loud whisper." She then grins and says "I can be alot louder than that when I want to. I'll show you what yelling really is sometime if you want."
She then looks at Rasidar and Stel and says "Yairn is right we found 3 doors, one straight ahead, and one down the left and right hallways. The one to the left has a light coming from under the door and Mao heard some kind of noise that seemed to come from the room, didn't you Mao?" she asks looking over at Mao. Before Mao can answer though Ash continues "And the door in right hallway had a stinky smell coming from it. No light or sound just a stinky smell. It smelled like it could be rotting veggies or bodies or something, right Mao?"
Still not giving Mao a chance to answer Ash rushes on "Neither door was trapped and they looked alot like the door behind you, new and hardly if ever used. All the walls were smooth like these and so was the floor. Wierd just plain wierd it was." she adds with a slight nod of her head.
"Oh, and we decided not to open them," says Ash with a hint of a grin at Cedric, Stel and Rasidar. "We wanted to leave something for you guys to do. Besides if something's in one of those rooms just waiting to get us, then maybe it will get you first."
She then looks at Mao and asks "Did I forget anything?"

"Oh, and it's probably nothing but there's more light globes on the ceilings but they're absolutely dead." Yairn said "Wonder how long the globes we have will last?"

Stelrein says to Yairn, "I would not worry about the globes we have. I felt drained after touching one of the flickering globes and it became a solid glow. I believe everyone else who touched them experienced the same, except for Ash, who could not get one down. It probably has something to do with magical strength. And I would guess that our lighted globes are at full strength."
Turning to Rasidar, "I have a suggestion for a way to proceed, but it is by no means safe. Considering the fact that we need food and water, and information. We might want to consider going towards the lighted room. Especially if it shows signs of life. However, I would not feel adverse to checking the two darkened room.
If we do go to the lighted room, I would suggest that only one person goes. The others in our group can hide in the hallway that Homm & Yairn investigated. I only want to send one person because I don't want to give the enemy, if it is an enemy, any sign of our strength. In addition, if the enemy sees one of us, they may suspect that the sleepers are awakening.
As a point of distraction, I would recommend standing on each others shoulder to activate one of the globes above our heads before getting into positions. That way, if whatever is behind the lighted door pursues the individual, the individual can run straight across to the stinky room. It's my hope that they would then be distracted by the newly lit globe by the sleeping quarters.
If this is the case, then Ash can show how to yell, further surprising the enemy. Then everyone can attack from the darkened corridor. It is my hope that the individual will not find an enemy, though.
I suggest this course of action because if there is anything living in the lighted room, it would follow that whatever it is needs light to see. This would give us a slight tactical advantage when drawing them into the corridor. The other doors, however, if we find someone or something alive in there, it would probably not need light to see. Thereby nullifying an advantage we'd have over it. Of course I could always be wrong."

At the time to reach the intersection, Ash is already way ahead of Mao. As she sees Homm, she signals him to come with her and she advances to join the group.
"Forgot to give that back to you; at least Yairn had some if ever you needed," Mao says handing a globe to Homm.
Seeing Ash having such a hard time controlling herself, Mao bites her inside cheek and takes on herself to avoid snapping herself to the front. Just as she was about to put her hand on ther arm to calm her down, Ash looks at her and seems to catch that she should still act discreetly... though not really, she sees.
"What I heard from the room to the left was just a deep sigh, but it seemed like from a living being; so I assume there's someone/thing in there." Mao adds, trying to look at Ash with eloquence to remind her to be discreet. "The temperature there was also slightly higher. The smell to the right was one of rotting vegetals, so it's probably there we'd have the most chances to find food. We couldn't determinate if it was locked or not though. From what I saw thus far, this place seems to be built symetricly. Now the decisions are up to you..." she whispers, nodding to Rasidar and Stelrein.

"Hey, Mr. Knight I vote you send Stel. If the thing in that room is hungry, maybe it will eat him and leave us alone until we can escape," says Ash with a grin at Stel.
"Besides I think we should check out the quiet dark rooms first. We might find some better weapons and me a bow in one of them in case we do have to fight what is in the lighted room. We also might find something to eat. I'm hungry," she says looking back at Rasidar.

Rasidar listens to all sides carefully, weighing his options.
"I would be most interested in searching the door on the right," Rasidar says. "`Tis possible there may be sustenance there. However, I am also intrigued by the lighted room. At some point, `twould be worthwhile to see what lies within."
"Once we do search the lighted room, your plan sounds reasonable," he says to Stelrein. "Anyone we do send in should be combat ready, in the event the worst comes to pass. One of us or Cedric, perhaps. But I would rather search the stench-filled room first, on the off-chance that provisions can be found there."
Rasidar nods grimly. The thought had crossed his mind. He realized that he could probably use some food. But he would not show any hint of hardship for himself. He would bear hunger or thirst as long as he had to, if it meant providing for the others.
"We should align in formation and proceed, if we are ready to continue," Rasidar says. "That is, unless any of you have further concerns?"

Mao listens to Stelrein's plan and wonders. When he finishes explaining (and that Ash, who was the quickest at speech again, took a small pause of talking), Mao whispers: "We do not know yet how big is this place and how many hostile beings might be around; if the exit is far and that our presence is acknowledged in a such situation, we'd bust a great part of our chances to escape... especially in the state we're now. I'm not against the idea of going towards where there is activity, but we'd increase our chances if we could find more suitable supplies and additional info before. If you choose this way nonetheless, I'll cooperate though. The ambush plan is good; we could even split in two teams, one on each perpendicular corridor to the one of the lighted room to be more efficient..."
"We should align in formation and proceed, if we are ready to continue," Rasidar says. "That is, unless any of you have further concerns?" Mao nods and stands ready to go.

"uhmm...", Homm trying to get the attention of the group to express his opinion, "must we assume that there is immediately combat situation once we go through the lighted doorway? what if there is nobody there to respond, at least with arms? what if i go there on my own, perhaps with him slightly behind", Homm thumbs Yairn, "& see what can be seen, observed, quietly & without much noise or offensive actions?"
Homm gauges the reactions of Rasidar & Stelrein. he continues, "at least i can move fast enough to back away in case if there is any danger. .... i'd like to remind you that since that door with light behind do not seems to be of a creaky kind, i may be able to get in without much noise."
Homm caught sight of Ash & he remembers something. he then says, "no finger snapping & here is your globe, sir." Homm returns the globe to Stelrein. "Now please, decide."
"oh yes, another thing. please discuss all that needs discussing as i feel we cannot afford to be chatty once we are in there" Homm points at the dark corridor, "& having either door open. we still do not know of what lies behind."

"`Twould be wise to at least be prepared for combat at all times," Rasidar says. "If we can use stealth or negotiation, we may do so. But we cannot afford to let down our guard. Not until we can be certain there is no threat. In any event, `tis best to negotiate from a position of strength."
"However, I am not averse to the use of stealth once we reach that point. I would feel better with accurate information of who or what lies inside. Provided that whoever goes in is prepared for combat should it be necessary."
Rasidar turns to Mao, considering her plan.
"Aye, splitting into two teams may have merit." Rasidar says. "We may also take advantage of the enclosed space of the door, in case the enemy has superior numbers. Otherwise, `twould be better to lure the enemy out here, where we can surround him."
