"`Tis a task better suited for Ash," Rasidar says, shaking his head. "Though Homm should search for anything that might be hidden."
"I should accompany you," Rasidar says. "`Tis my solemn duty to oppose the things of dark magic. Once any traps are remedied, we should search the bodies for weapons and then address the pentagram."

Loriana
From here you can see no useable equipment.
The light from the Djinn's room is actually bright enough that you have a good range of vision, and at least a few of the Light Globes in the pentagram room are still working, albeit in the usual flickering fashion. The overall lighting is not fantastic, but it does allow you to see most of the room, albeit not always very clearly.
Ash
There are no traps in the doorway that you can detect.

"Evil or not, no creature deserves to be enslaved and imprisonned like that," Mao says with disgust as Rasidar and Stelrein talk about the pentagram and the demon. Then she turns to the djinn and asks: "Zumir, what do you know about this kind of demon? And the fire damage must have been his doing, eh?"
Talking about fire and the nauseating burnt flesh scent reminds her of Loriana who was traumatized by a similar event. Anxious, she looks at her to see if she can handle the situation; although she's very pale and crisped, she seems to be ok provided the circumstances. With some gratefulness, Mao sees that Rasidar is watching on Ash and keeping her attention. The more she gets to observe her, the more Mao feels surprised that she's is still in one piece... unless it is what happened to them that erased all the scars one behaving like that would undoubtely have, she thinks with irony.
When Zumir finishes to answer, she adds with some suspicion: "Haven't you been aware of something going on there? Such a battle is not exactly a discreet event, even through a stone wall..."
She then notices Homm on the floor, shaking and whimpering. At the same time, she sees Ash, Rasidar and Lor about to go in the room. (Elliot, can we tell how long ago the battle seemed to have happened? If no, if it could have been pretty recent, Mao tells those going in the room while she heads towards Homm: "Please check first if there is any that survived; it's unlikely, but we never know...")
Once she reaches Homm, Mao kneels beside him and puts her hand on his arm. "Hey there, are you ok?" she asks in a soft, low voice while she tries to hear and understand what he whimpers.

"Mr. Knight, look," says Ash looking at Homm. "Something is wrong with Little Sneak. I think he has remembered something or is trying to. Do you think he is going to be alright?"
***************
"The doorway doesn't seem to be trapped," says Ash looking back at Lor and Mr. Knight. "Lor, you sure you want to do this?" she asks. "If you are, then let's go, but be careful. The bodies and pentagram could be trapped. Those guys could just be the bait to catch us."
Ash slowly moves into the room watching closely for anything that might signal a trap or a pressure plate on the floor that could mean trouble.
When she reaches the mess of bodies and burnt stuff, she carefully examines the area and the remains in front of her. Slowly she reaches out and touches what looks to have been a body at one time and feels the charred floor around it.
Assuming all to be safe, Ash moves on to examine the pentagram motioning for Lor and Rasidar that it is OK for them to examine the bodies. Slowly and carefully she moves close to the pentagram. She stands there staring at the huge demon lying in it.
"Wow, this thing is huge," she says not taking her eyes from it. "Come on, Mr. Knight. Let me poke it," says Ash looking back at Rasidar with a hint of a mischievous smile. "Just to see if it moves."
Getting the NO answer that she knew she would when she asked him she gives him a pouty look and then grins, kneels down and begins to examine the pentagram and area around it for traps. Slowly and hesitating just for a second, she reaches out and touches it with her finger and then runs her fingers gently over it.
*E - does Ash find any traps or anything of interest as she examines the floor and the remains of the bodies close by. Does she find any traps associated with the pentagram? Can she determine any thing else about it or the area as she touches it and looks at it closely.*

Mao
"Fire Demon," Zumir scowls. "The burning is certainly its doing. I did not hear the battle, but then if I were a mage, I would not want there to be any chance of a Djinn seeing a trapped Fire Demon. I may not leave this room, yet what I can see, I can strike! This battle is as new to me as it is to you. A shame for I coud have helped the invaders."
He grins at Mao. "I should have been wracked with pain for attacking the vile creature - for it belongs here! But it would have been worth it!"
Zumir is almost dripping hatred, and his hand grips the hilt of his sword so tightly that his fingers are a paler blue than usual. His eyes never leave the dead demon while he speaks.
The battle appears to be two or three days old, though the condition of the bodies make it hard to be certain.

Ash
You find no traps, but you are sure there is something very weird about the pentagram. With your limited knowledge of magic you are not sure what, but it doesn't look quite like any pentagram you've ever seen.

Rasidar looks at Homm with a glance of concern. There was so little he understood about Homm. His ways were a mystery to Rasidar. Yet if there was something wrong with Homm, he considered it his duty to help.
"I know not for certain," Rasidar says, looking back at Ash. "Perhaps `tis some foulness left by the demon. Or else some memory was sparked. I cannot know which, as of yet."
"Help him as best you can," he adds, turning to Mao.
Finally, Rasidar turns to Cedric. He suspects that Cedric's skills may prove useful...
"Cedric, you have some skill in magecraft, do you not?" Rasidar asks him. "Come along, if you would. We could use your aid in examining the pentagram."
After Cedric replies, Rasidar goes with Ash and Loriana...
Rasidar nods. He looks over the bodies and searches for any useful equipment or items.
Rasidar gives Ash a stern and disapproving look.
"Nay, let it be," Rasidar reminds her... until he sees the smile on her face. Then his face softens in confusion as he regards Ash. "`Tis... some sort of jest? For `twould seem you delight in worrying me."
Rasidar keeps close to Ash. He sighs inwardly, wishing that Callie were here to lend her expertise. In the meantime, he examines the pentagram to see what he can understand of its magic...

Rasidar
It looks like anything useful left after the battle has either been removed or eaten by the floor.
The pentagram is very odd. You're sure the purpose goes far beyond mere containment. Unfortunately, your knowledge of magic is not quite sufficient to tell you its exact purpose.

Rasidar considers this, his brows furrowed with intent. He misses Callie all the more as he struggles to understand the pentagram. Then he shakes his head and returns his attention to the others.
"`Tis more than a containment spell, this I am certain of," Rasidar says finally. "There is greater magic afoot here. But `tis beyond my ability to comprehend fully. Cedric may know better than I."

Stelrein points to the opening into the summoning room, "Zumir, does that opening constitute a doorway or an extension of this room? Likewise, if you know that someone were to attempt to enter your room, would you be able to attack through the walls to get to them?"

Loriana nods and ventures forward with Ash. When Ash stops to examine the floor and bodies, Loriana looks farther into the room. She scans for any bodies that seem to have escaped the fire. Her stomach does flips, but she shows no outward signs. Her brow furrows in concentration.
(E- does she see any?)

"Hey, Mr. Magic," calls Ash looking back at Cedric. "You know anything about pentagrams? I've never seen one of these things before and Mr. Knight says he can't figure it out. Think you can?"
************
While Rasidar and Cedric are checking out the pentagram, Ash walks back over to Loriana and says "Lor, you remember what Mao said about being sure to check for any survivors? Do you want to come with me to check out the dead guys?
Assuming that Lor decides to join the search, she and Ash walk around the rest of the room checking to see if anyone had survived.
*Elliot - do Lor and Ash find any survivors?*

Stelrein
"The doorway makes it a separate room," Zumir sighs. "Would that leaving this blasted place were so easy! I can use my magics against all I see, though, be they in my room, or through the doorways."
Loriana
There are a few unburned corpses. The ones that have been ripped apart...
Loriana & Ash
There are no survivors.

"No survivors," says Ash sadly as she and Lor check the last body. "I want to finish checking the room for traps so the others can come in safely and help check out the rest of the room. "When I'm finished I will let Mr. Knight know what I find so he can decide whether it is safe for the others to come in here.
"Do you want to see if you can find anything that might be of use to us while I do that?" she asks Loriana as she glances back over at the demon lying in the pentagram. Lor, what do you think happened to him?" she asks still staring at the demon.
**************************
Ash moves about the rest of the room checking it very carefully for traps leaving the 3 doors for last. When she is finished with the room she goes to each door and examines it and the wall around it very carefully.
*E - does Ash find any traps anywhere in the room? does she find any of the doors trapped.*

As Loriana finds unburned bodies, she turns away abruptly, seeing them ripped apart. She clutched her stomach, trying to control her body's instinctual reaction. Loriana carefully makes her way around the room, looking for anything that may be of use.
(E - I'm assuming by now that if there was anything, we'd have found it, but just to make sure, has Loriana found anything.)
Loriana glances briefly at the demon and then quickly looks away, "I don't think any one thing killed it. A creature that large would have to be injured greatly, either through one great wound or several small ones. It is more likely that he fell to small wounds, considering how many are dead here."

Loriana & Ash
A careful search reveals nothing useful on any of the bodies (Though I am assuming you are not touching the demon), Ash will find no traps anywhere in the room, either.

Stelrein turns and sees Mao comforting Homm. Stelrein walks over and asks Mao, "Is he all right? Do you think he could use a sip of ale?" Stelrein squats in front of Homm, blocking his view through the door.

Mao looks at Stelrein standing in front of the door and smiles and nods at him, grateful (and a little surprised) by his delicate move. "Good idea," she answers. She takes the skin she has and tries to draw Homm's attention on it. "Here, drink a little," she tells him. "Painful memories came back all of a sudden, eh?"
"He looks normal," Mao answers to Stelrein. "I think it's the same thing than what happened to Loriana; like if he just remembered a traumatic event so terrible that it puts him in a state of shock, as if it just happened..."
Homm being the second one to whom it happens, Mao wonders if someone else will have this kind of reaction. If she would? Until now, she had focused quite only on the others, on the present, on the future or on the objects...
Mao chases these thoughts as soon as they came; she'd ponder about herself when she'd have time to lose, and it is not the case now.

*Elliot - you assumed right. no touch demon. mr. knight won't let ;D *
After searching the room carefully. Ash goes to where Rasidar and Cedric are examining the pentagram kneels down next to Rasidar and says "Mr. Knight, the room is free of traps as far as I can tell. I checked the doors also and found nothing. I didn't try to open any of them to see if they were locked though. I thought we'd find that out when we got ready to leave. Do you want me to go tell the others that it is safe for them to come in here?"
Looking over at the demon, she asks "What do you think he was doing here? Zu said he belongs. I don't get it."
