Loriana shrieks with glee at finding the spell. She calms herself and focuses on learning the spell. She knows she can't hurry it, but she can't wait to share it with the others. A big grin splays across her face as she concentrates.

Seeing Mao motioning to her, Ash walks over to her and when Mao asks her to check the chest to see if it is trapped she says "Sure, give me just a minute."
Ash then walks over to the chest, examines it closely from all angles and runs her fingers gently over it to see if she finds any traps.
*E - is the chest trapped *

Loriana
You feel the magic of the spell gently seep into your mind, and you know that a spell once learned should stay in your memory forever. The magic writes itself into you, in its way. More than ever, you cannot understand why you do not recall the spells you once knew...
Ash
The chest does not appear to be trapped, but it is locked.

Ash looks up at Mao and says "I don't think it is trapped, but it is locked. I can't pick locks. Maybe someone else can or maybe there is a key hidden somewhere that will open it."
"Not much. I opened the door across the hall and it appeared to be deserted so Lor decided to search it. You guys might want to check it out too when you are through here. I can check the other doors for traps and all while you're doing that. Which door do you want me to check next?" she asks.

When Ash says that the chest is not trapped but locked, Mao turns to Leim. "Can you pick that lock?" she asks. Then she thinks aloud: "might take tools for that, so we better search anyway... Then adding in a hurry, thinking about Leim: "It's out of question to force or bash it open here and now, though." "Not much. I opened the door across the hall and it appeared to be deserted so Lor decided to search it. You guys might want to check it out too when you are through here. I can check the other doors for traps and all while you're doing that. Which door do you want me to check next?" she asks. Mao thinks for a moment and replies: "Hmmm... Any, except the 9th one, I think. My impression is that the eight on the side give on rooms like this, but that one might open on something else, so we should keep it for the last... What I suggest is to open every door on the sides, say the closer to the group first and so on, to make sure everything is safe; you might want to check for signs of presence and traps in the rooms too... then we'll see what we do next. Leim and I are quite done here and we'll pass behind you. In any case, I'll stay alert to any sign from you; you tell me if you find anything of interest, ok?"

"You got it," said Ash and she turn and walks to the next door on the left ( the one that is next to the room where Mao and Leim are? She then examines the wall around the door and the door itself for any sign of a trap. If she sees nothing then she runs her fingers gently around it just to be sure she hasn't missed anything.

Loriana smiles triumphantly once she learns the spell. She rushes out into the hallway, looking to the people waiting in the demon doorway and the room across the hall. She whisperes excitedly, "I found a spell!" she waves the paper, "It's a healing spell! I learned it!" She tries to contain her excitement as best as she can. Belatedly, she thinks to add, "And there's women's clothing in the room I searched." As is evident that she now wears a blue dress.

Stelrein blinks, looking at Loriana, then he says slowly, "You're in a dress..." shaking his head, Stelrein is able to regain some of his senses, "Would you mind bringing it here to show me?"
Loriana blushes, "The dress? Why would you want to see it?"
"No, no, uh," Stelrein slightly blushes, "The spell."
"Oh! Yes, of course," Loriana smiles and goes over to him. She hands him the spell.
"Would you mind keeping an eye out down the hallway while I study the spell," Stelrein looks at the spell and tries to learn it.
Loriana nods and watches down the hallway. She smiles at Stelrein's reaction. At first she had thought that he hadn't liked how the dress looked, but she had been obviously wrong. She can't help but giggle a bit.

Cedric is thrilled to hear Loriana finding a spell scroll. He's about to ask her to see it, but Stelrein is quicker. If he didn't restrain himself, he would rip the scroll from Steltein's hands - but instead he asks Loriana whether there were any more books on magic also.

Ash
There are no traps on the door.
Stelrein
You learn the spell. As with Loriana, the sensation of the magic working itself into your mind is both familiar and new at the same time. You wonder how you could ever have forgotten the magic you once knew.

Leim sighed as Ash was called in and then exam the chest saying it was safe of traps. ”Well duh there no traps you don’t trap your school supplies.’ he walk over and exam the lock and gauge how good it was and weather a few light smacks my open it or weather he have to find some wire.
OoC: Just give me a basic of the lock is it a good lock or is it a cheapo that might be undone with a few light taps.
BiC
Leim sighed a bit and sat on the floor in front of the chest “We should try to find the key first. But I should have no problem getting in once you fine me some fine wire to use on it.” he look back at Mao as he sat there. “Plus would like to have someone with magic feel the things out.” he stood dusting himself off. “Not Sin-Drip tho he bug me enough today.’ he looked around. “This place feels like my old school a bit. and kids who know Mana techniques like to show off by using them on stuff.” he looked at Ash.” So you may be right and there some traps. But probly nothing deadly just to embraces or annoy.”
Leim heard that they found a spell he frown and moped a bit. If I were home we would have started spells and hand to hand training next week. This is so not fair. he remembers how much he had to beg to get place in the Mana training. “I hate this place sooo much..”

Leim
The lock is adequate, but nothing a reasonable lockpicker should not be able to open with a bit of wire or other crude tools. It's a fairly standard off the shelf type thing.

Since she can find no traps and feeling pretty safe, Ash looks to see if there is any light coming from around the door.

Ash
With the corridor lighting the way it is, it is almost impossible to tell for sure. You think there might be flickering lights beyond the door too, though.

Mao bristles when she hears Loriana in the corridor; had they all forgotten they were supposed to be discreet or what!? When she understands it's about a spell that she found, she softens a bit and thinks she'd have to look at the papers here too in case. When she sees Loriana heading towards the group though, she realizes that Ash might be opening doors alone and her concern grows; she stays even more alert to any sign coming from the corridor in case Ash would have any problem. This is so not fair. he remembers how much he had to beg to get place in the Mana training. “I hate this place sooo much..” "Right," Mao nods when Leim talks about searching for the key. "I know a bit of magic myself; we'll see if I can feel anything..." she adds examinating and running her fingers on the chest, trying to feel anything. (Anything special about the chest, Elliot? How big is it, is there any smell/feeling coming from it?)

Mao
Just normal wood smell. It's not even iron bound. It's a place to keep stuff more than a determined effort to keep out thieves or adventurers. You feel nothing special about it.
It's roughly a foot high by three feet wide by a foot broad. Big enough to keep small valuables in, but not much use beyond that.

"Hmmm, doesn't seem to be anything special with it," Mao tells Leim. She stands up and goes at the desk. She looks and reads to see what the papers on it are about and checks what else there might be on the desk. (Elliot, what does she find? And are there drawers to that desk? If so, Mao checks in too.)

Mao
The writing desk is an absolute mess. Half the papers are clearly out of order, a few have been screwed up then flattened out again, and all are notes taken in a near incomprehensible hand. None of them are interesting or useful.
The writing desk has a single drawer containing a quill pen and some ink in a small bottle.

Mao takes the ink bottle and the quill pen; she puts the bottle on the desk and hands the pen to Leim. "Do you think you could pick the lock with it?" She asks. (Elliot?)
After Leim either took the pen or not (if he doesn't, Mao puts it on the desk too), Mao proceeds to check the desk everywhere carefully (on top, under, taking off the drawer, etc.) in case the key (or anything) would be there, if there is hidden stuff there. While she's on the floor checking under the desk, she also investigates under the bed. (Elliot, does she find anything?)
