I've really missed playing Awakening. I know I don't have as much time as I used to, but I'd love to make time to roleplay again. Just curious if anyone else wants to play again. Of course, it's up to Elliot first to decide if he wants to play again. And whether we start anew or try to pick up the pieces. Just wanted to put my two cents out on the table.

I'm certainly interested if you guys all are I see no reason not to continue pretty much from where we left off, with any new players just adding their characters to the scene. You were just dividing equipment, IIRC I'll certainly start a new thread if enough people are interested, with a 'what has gone before' intro to remind everyone (Not least me )

I'm also interested in doing some RPGing again. Don't know if I'd participate in Awakening but I'll think about it. I certainly have the time.

Cleg - Awakening is my online RPG, usually run from this section of the forum. It's been on hiatus for a while, but if I get enough interest I'll continue it in due course It's designed to ne 'newbie friendly' and any new players wishing to join will certainly be able to

That explains why Google didn't have it on page 1. I don't know if they had it on pp. 2-24. Is it fun? What do you do?

I like to hope it's fun, but then I'm the GM, so I'm a bit biased Awakening game rules are here. The basic idea is the same as a tabletop RPG. Everyone creates a character and plays them, but descriptions of what you are doing are posted in the story threads. The GM will then give you the result of your actions. Between players & GM, a story slowly unfolds. At least, this is the plan

I've never played a tabletop RPG. I'd be more than happy to join in to see how it goes.

Do you have to fight? Could you play a thief type or healer who never fights? Are the other players allies or enemies?

All other players are allies... technically ;D
It's a team game - think Baldur's Gate, only with no limit on group size and each character played by a single player. You can hurt the other characters either accidentally or deliberately, though; it is an option.
You could certainly play a thief or healer type who never fights.
There will be combat later on, but it is not a major part of the game thus far.

There will be combat later on, but it is not a major part of the game thus far. Interesting. The rules all seem to be mostly combat oriented.

That's because there need to be rules for combat. There don't need to be rules for character interaction, puzzle solving, etc, so there aren't any. I was never big on making rules where I didn't have to

cleg, if it helps you any. i have a character who is not combat oriented. in fact she is very far from it. i decided to play her for the characterization to see how i could develop her.
when the game left off, ash wanted no part of armor or weapons. at that point she was the only character who felt this way.
this has all been a new experience for me too, no table top rpgs and no online gaming. i had played some computer games as multi player but this is nothing like that.

maybe EK is trying to create an emergent behaviour using as few rudimentary rules as possible.
