we won't be playing 4.0 any time soon as we almost have all of the 3.5 D&D books, which is a huge investment. So we'll be playing 3.5 for many many years. I Agree. 3.5 for its flaws isn't a bad system and as I also have most of the books for it, I don't believe I will be trading in either.

Interesting thread, Alrik. I'll have to read more of it soon. Thanks for posting it.
3.5 has its flaws, but fixed a lot of 3.0. So it was a give and take kinda transition.

4 already seems kinda stupid, I have to say. They obviously rushed 3 so they had to correct it fast with 3.5 now they're going for 4? When you consider there were at least 10-15 years between 1st ed AD&D and 2nd then consider the sheer mountain of core or semi-core for 3 and 3.5... This looks like a rip-off in the making.
Don't blame you guys for not changing. At this rate 5 will be along in six months anyway!
Someone needs to remind Wizards that D&D is not a collectible card game, I think...

I think they're simply following a current fashion. Faster, better, more stuff ... all that the buyers of Blizzard learned from them ...
That "industry standard" as I fear to have to call it - imho jumped off the computer border and into the P&P market. (Like kind of a virus, cynically said.)
Now, they've learned from Blizzard - something I was predicting a few years ago, although not in this scale.
Now, the curse begins to bear down...

LOL!, yeah, 5 might be coming along soon. Or as Will says, he might look at the new stuff when 4.75 comes out.
