D6 free license (similar to D20) ?

Hello, everone.

I've recently heard rumors that West End Games (former publisher of the official Star Wars RPG) develops some kind of "open license" or "free license" for their D6 rules system.

Unfortunately, I have little references to this, apart from their FAQ, which only deals about their D6 system in general (character creation etc.).

The D6 wikipedia page only says that

Near the end of the year, WEG publisher Eric Gibson tentatively announced that the D6 System would soon be adopting a free license.

I'm still a fan of their old system (mostly due to habit ;D ), and so I'm quite pleased over this move.

Indeed, the old Westend Games D6 system was quite good, i enjoye playing it for a good few years before Wizards got hold of starwars and turned it to D20. Would be great if there is a Open Liecence version available I'm sure we would see quite a substantial revival
