In Hawk & Dove, what was the name of the police detective who told Dawn that supervillains were really dumb to always call themselves after their powers, and that he couldn't figure out why they did that?

DC eh?
After Superman was killed by Doomsday the first time, the Justice League of America went through a change. Name all new members that joined (the FIRST issue of the "new League") and all the members that left.

Ah, at last! A Justice League question. My especialty, and my pleasure (dear God, I'm being written by Chris Claremont) The only one who really left the team was Tora, though Fire and Booster were de-powered and Beetle was in a coma. The two members that joined the team were Wonder Woman and the Ray, though Black Condor and Agent Liberty remained for the rest of Jurgens' love letter to Squadron Supreme. More JL!

Match up the Big 7 JL with their Greek mythological antecedents, then.
Also!! Aha, try this. Which DCU hero appeared (in flashback) in the shortlived Scarab Vertigo mini?

Why just the big 7, let's match all of Morrison's JLA while we're at it. Superman - Zeus Wonder Woman - Hera Batman - Hades Aquaman - Poseidon Flash - Hermes Green Lantern - Apollo Orion - Ares Oracle - Athena Plastic Man - Dyonisious Steel - Hephaestus Huntress - Artemis Big Barda - Demeter Zaurel - Eros And I think the answer to your second question is Dr. Fate (Kent Nelson)

*Checks work* And J'Onn? Where's he? Is he not part of the JLA now, Hector? Otherwise, solid. Can we just ask questions we want to know? I'm curious about the ties 'tween the contemporary Seven Soldiers and Conway's 70's JLA #100-2/ Stars and S.T.R.I.P.E. #9.

*Checks work* And J'Onn? Where's he? Is he not part of the JLA now, Hector? Uh..Hestia? I dunno, ask Georgette. He said J'onn was an advisor when he made the JLA/Greek Gods association. Yeah, I think I'll even change the title. It was Len Wein who wrote that JLofA arc, but anyway. The ties are tenous, at least when it comes to the proper 7S minis. Issue #0 was full of references from it. Given the succesfull revival of the JSA, Wein decided to bring back the nearly-forgotten SSoV from Earth-2. The story was basically that the Black Hand (the SSoV nemesis) was using a power similar to the one the SSoV faced when fighting Nebula Man years ago, so they needed the SSoV help to defeat Black Hand, but first they had to found, as they were lost in the timestream following the defeat of Nebula Man. That's when Vigilante was marooned in the Old West for some years and first fought one of the Spiders of the Harrowing. Nebula Man and its power was always very vague, so it is possible that there is a concrete tie to Ne-Buh-Lah. After the Crisis, the SSoV were left without two members (Green Arrow and Speedy from Earth-2) and no one really agreed how to fix that. I believe it was Roy Thomas who retconned a Squire as a sidekick to Shining Knight to fill one of the void but never really caught on. That Squire was originally the Knight, whose now grown-up Squire sidekick is the Knight we saw in JLA: C #1-3. In the awfully misdirected Stars and STRIPES, Johns was aiming for a revival of the SSoV and so he decided to straighten out their history. Replacing the golden Age Green Arrow with The Spider (the original Thomas Ludlow Hallaway, killed by the Shade and father of Thomas and Lucas) and Speedy with Vigilante's sidekick The Chinatown Kid. There Johns told the story of how the events of JLofA #100-102 happened, The Spider betrayed the team sabotaging the weapon they were going to use against Nebula. Wing (Crimson Avenger's sidekick) discovered him and then sacrificed his life to stop Nebula, which then lead to the 7S being scattered throughout time. Johns also gave a brief resume of what happened with all the original 7S at the time. Crimson Avenger died in an explosion. Vigilante opened a few restaurants, I already said how The Spider was killed by the Shade in the later's excellent miniseries, Star-Spangled Kid I was killed by Solomon Grundy using Mr. Bones' death touch, Stripesy became the armored STRIPES and Shining Knight I went to avenge his former love Firebrand II. I wouldn't been nice to see what Johns had in mind for the return of the SSoV, but given Morrison's 7S and his own JSA I can't really complain. But I would really like for him to finally do something with the second Crimson Avenger he created and stop teasing about the reason for the original change from killer vigilante to brightly colored-in-tights superhero. Ah, well. OK, I ranted and I don't even know if that's what you wanted to know.
