Well, the issue really ends things... with a wonderful cliche! A cliche that you don't see coming, but a cliche none the less.
Spoilers-
And of course, KITTY is the one who stops the big ass sentinel that is supposed to be a statue. Right, of course, didn't see THAT one coming.
And also, here it is, the cliche. Emma has been really wokring for the Hellfire club (who are evil again) the whole time! Yep! The whole time!
Thing is, either way this is going to end badly. Either her "Love" for Scott makes her betray the Hellfire club, in which case its just another one of those "I love you too much and I can't beat to hurt you" stories, and if she DOES betray the X-men instead of the HFC, well, then we get "Emma was really a evil [Censored] all along,"
Either way, I won't be very happy. But personall,y I would rather the "Evil [Censored] all along" then more of the thick, raw "Why do you love me Scott? I love you, let's have sex, I'll dress up like Jean today, promise!"

If Whedon does go the "working for the Hellfire Club all along route" He's going to have to explain why she waited about 3 to 4 years Marvel time to reveal. Explaining away her Generation X time (where she genuinely started to reform it seemed) is going to be toughest.
EDIT: It would be really shocking if Emma managed to get Cyclops to betray the team also. Though that seems like something Austen would do. I trust Whedon to do better since Cyclops betraying the X-Men is too out of character for him.

Its basically said she's been manipluating Cyclops all along.
"But Summers learns yet again to trust no one. Emma needs to work him very carefully now,"
"If he learns her true loyalty... bad"
"And they were such a cute couple too,"
"Oh well..."
"... Nothing lasts forever,"
But I already know that this is going to end up with Emma betraying the Hellfire club, to prove she really is a good honest person, which kind of ircs me, but oh well. They set up for a huge betrayal, and then she goes "I can't, because I love Scott," its really giving me that vibe, so if it happens, I'm not all surprised.

Honestly, if the next arc, apparently coming out in January, ends up being "Emma betrays the HFC because of her love for Scott!"
I'm quiting comics again, that'll be it for me.
I don't like either options, but that one is utterly intollerable at this point.

Most likely. Also I heard somewhere else that Cassandra Nova is back. Maybe Cassandra kills Emma instead JUST as she's about to betray the HFC.

And this all started out so good! I don't usually read Xmen comics, except for a mini here or there, but Whedon got me onboard and kept me interested for quite a while, up until recently.
I think I'm gonna drop this and just wait to hear how season two turns out - if it's good I'll get it in trades. If not, then at least I won't have wasted my money on individual issues.
Which is too bad, because I love reading about Kitty.

Yea, I'd go with listening to how things turned out online and get the trade if you are interested.
I'm going to pikc up issue 13 and 14, but if he hasn't convinced me by at MOST issue 15 that he's worth my money, I'm dropping Whedon's book and not looking back.

Hmm.
They have, I think, something on Emma; Bad News Cassie is right there on the last page, looking not much like Ernst.
Who is she.
Kinda blah; except for me wondering who else is in that disused wreckage with Shaw and Nova. Year Two I can take or leave at this point.

A lot of rumors are going about that its either Sage or Pryor.

In the hood? Mebbes.
Whozzat white chick, though? Some say Negasonic Teenage Warhead.

Thats another rumor actually, lmao.
All in all though, I don't like the direction of this particular event, as I think its basically going to be more of the same "I love you Scott, so I will go with you!"
Of course, even if it isn't, its "Ignore the last 15 years of my continuity, I'm evil!"
I wish I could have a bit more trust in Joss here, but I don't at the moment. I'm at the point of "I'll believe it when I see it," for him to clean up this part with a conclusion that I actually like.

I wouldn't say that. I would say I'm picky. But honestly, those are the only two real outcomes that can come out of this, unless Emma goes off and joins the New Avengers (Bet Bendis would love that), its just not gonna be another way. It'll happen, one way or the other, in some way, and that is why I don't like the storyline in that regards. The hellfire club itself, being evil again, is good. Xavier being a guy who manipluates and basically TORTURES the Danger Room for what? How many years now? Is wrong on so many levels, and out of character. He's similar to Magneto, he is NOT Magneto however.

Xavier's always been manipulative. No, I won't disagree wholly, the arc was a let down.
I don't see the binary though; I'm pretty sure Emma's being manipulated (Mastermind in da hood? Dunno,) so that nixes the EEEvil deal and, yeah, it's pretty much established that she and Scott are mutantdom's first couple now (cf: The End, House of M) so - okay - she does love him. Any change to that status would seem, at this point, forced.

Unless Jean really comes back, and bursts the bubble that she forced them together after her death in order to save the world.

The ending was tolerable but I'm not coming back next year, that's for sure. Comics are expensive and Whedon's writing isn't really worth it.

Well, I can't say I was hugely impressed either. While I'll be there for S2, I certainly hope it's gonna be better than this. So far, one very good arc, and one pretty bad arc...

Yeah, I'm thinking mayyybbeee trades or HC, if I hear it's pretty good, year two.
I'm interested in the twist a bit, but not probably enough at this point.
