Good to see you again, Perry. Lost Souls is a decent read so far. Not great, but readable. There are some interesting ideas behind it, and the cat is rather a cool character. I also can't say anything bad about Colleen Doran on art. Now that said, I can see where the book has the "eh" factor for you. It's JMS on the whole magical mystery tour, and there's not much if you're into action and things happening. Still, it's far better than JMS's Marvel work of late. Which is, I grant, not exactly a compliment.

Haha, Yea .. I am (Believe it or not) a JMS fan. His marvel work nhowever has left me bored and uninterested. (Other than Squadron, which is still one of the top 10 books out there.) His Spider-Man is laughable His Lost Souls is ..." eh" His Fantastic Four is ... well boring me. (Still like reading /re-reading his Midnight nation however). When he is on ... man he is on ... but .... (Man .. I really need to not do this after drinking ... 3 freaking edits ...hahahaha)

Midnight Nation is the reason I'm reading Lost Souls That was a fantastic series, and nothing I've seen from JMS has come close to it - yet. I am enjoying Lost Souls, though, I must say - not the least for some great quotes ;D

I think we're mostly in agreement, Perry, honestly. JMS is fine on his own stuff usually. I just don't think he's done very well for Marvel. When he's playing in the MU, JMS has this tendency to rewrite history (usually badly) and force-fit characters to suit his story when they don't work. He doesn't do that when he's playing with his own universes. You're pretty much on the mark on Spidey. FF... not enjoying it either, have to say. I dropped FF halfway through the first arc because I hated the whole retcon of the FF's origin, and I didn't care for the whole Social Services subplot. Strange started off well and degenerated into a mess. JMS is a good writer... on his own creations. He just can't write established characters.

I think JMS is far too interested in writing mystical/psychological stories to write anything else, honestly. So he tries to turn everything into mystical/psychological stories, whether it fits with the character concept or not. Hence the problem with his Marvel work.

Yea, I do agree with the Social Services subplot of F.F. though. It is a logical, and much needed plot. I don't know ... Damn him ...
