Really light past couple of weeks for me too... Boys #7: Well, The Boys are back, and it's still a good comic. Garth Ennis seems to do better when the brakes are off, curiously, and that remains the case here as well. There are several things he does this issue I can't see him getting away with at DC. All the same, it feels like a starter issue, so it'll probably be that this will improve as it goes. Green Lantern #20: All in all... I'd say the Star Sapphire arc ends as an interesting idea bogged down by dull execution. Star Sapphire has needed a revamp for a while, and the new concept has merit... but the story itself is a snoozefest. In fairness, though, the Zamarons at least have a vision and a goal now, which is far more than they used to have. That said, I love the Sinestro Corps backups, and really look forward to the Sinestro War upcoming. JSA #6: This issue is far better than I expected it would be, given that I haven't to date been that impressed with the Lightning Saga crossover. That said, I really like Starman's portrayal so far, and there are some good moments here and there. All the same, I'll be glad when this crossover is behind us and Johns can focus more on the huge cast he's already got. Star Wars: Legacy #12: This book has really grown on me, I admit. I like Cade Skywalker and the Star Wars universe that Ostrander has built. I like that I have no idea if Cade will return to the light or fall to the Dark Side. There's no way of knowing who might live or die, and no one is safe. I have no idea what might happen in this series, and that's definitely a good thing.

Pretty much 'Ennis week' for me, although it's Mike Carey week, too - and I can't complain about that The Boys - very funny, but I think I see now why DC pulled the plug! Ennis is pulling no punches at all on this one. I find myself feeling sorry for Tek-Knight though, I must admit. Punisher - still good. It's Ennis writing Punisher. No more need be said, really. Barracuda - solid, definitely Ennis and worth a read, if not his finest work. Buffy - Joss is on great form, but darn 'm looking forward to September when Vaughn takes on Faith Crossing Midnight - great series. Loving it. Carey clearly loves working with myths and legends, and usually does his best work when he does. Ult Fantastic Four - Still really good. Carey is in danger of making Ultimate Hood Ornament actually interesting, which is almost inconceivable. Green Lantern - good ending to a somewhat sub-par story. I can see why Johns wanted to reach the ending he has, and I'm very intrigued to see where this is all going. I like that Johns is making this Hal's story as well as Green Lantern's. Not always an easy balance in supehero comics. Fallen Angel - still intrigues. I'm starting to wonder if PAD is actually going anywhere with this right now, though. The last few arcs have involved a lot of back story, which is interesting but now in danger of being overdone. Ihope he moves forwards, soon. Midnighter - not written by Ennis any more, and the quality drop is noticeable (And yeah, I know the last one was written by Vaughn, but that was really good). Nonetheless it's still solid, and I'm going to give the new writer a chance. Witchblade/Punisher - great art, reasonable story. Readable, but not great. Sara comes across pretty well, but I'm far too used to reading Ennis' Punisher not to find the 'other version' jarring - and inferior. Official MU Handbook: Mystic Arcana - AKA research for my Elsa stories ;D A fair selection, but the vast list of characters left out proves the editors have no clear structure in mind, as by far most of the best known and most popular Marvel mystic characters aren't even IN here! Even the omissions list is most noteworthy for its vast number of omissions!
