First issue really rocked! Anyone else getting this?
I love how Tommy checks out whether his X-ray vision is working or not ;D

I am.
A nice change of pace from disemboweled interrogations and unfunny sex jokes.

Reminded me just HOW good Hitman actually was. Ennis can and does write some superheroes very well, it seems. At least for a while...
I just hope he can keep it up is all...

Maybe not very well, but certainly acceptable. With the notable exception of Superman, whom he writers wonderfully.
Certainly he and Tommy are the stars.

Yeah, I'll agree with that.
I always fiind it kind of odd just how good Ennis' take on Supes is, considering his attitude to superheroes, generally.
His Batman is within bounds, too, I think.

So far, but I can't help thinking he's setting up a punchline.

With any other character, I'd agree. His one issue story featuring Tommy meeting Supes was superb, though. He really seems to understand & respect Supes. I wouldn't believe it of Ennis if I hadn't read it myself, but still...

You could be right there, Hec, I must admit...
Right now, though, the resolution seems to be totally in the hands of Tommy & Bats, though. They are the only two characters who are almost fully functional, still...

I read both issues--this was pretty good! Made me go and seek out the rest of HITMAN that I never read.

Not too bad, I guess. For an Ennis attempt to do a straightforward superhero teamup, that is. ;D I found it all right, all in all. Superman and Tommy were well written, Batman seemed okay, Kyle was a moron (pretty accurate for the character at the time), and the rest were window dressing. Some good, fun Tommy and Superman moments, though, and I liked the way Tommy was used to show that sometimes you need a brutal anti-hero to do the dirty jobs the heroes won't. Shame that Tommy's no longer around, because that would have been an interesting direction for him. I liked okay, but there are Ennis books I'm more fond of. But then, I admit that for all that Tommy Monaghan is an interesting character, the Hitman series itself never quite clicked with me for some reason I can't quite figure out. Could just be the very British humor for all I know.

Very solid ending, I felt. I always think it's kind of ironic that Ennis really hates superheroes, yet he really seems to understand and respect Superman, who is the greatest of them all.
Hitman remains my favourite ever Ennis series, and this story reminded me why. Ennis catches just the right balance between drama and humour, and Tommy himself is so very human.
It's the perfect capstone. Now I just hope DC have the sense to leave Tommy dead...
