the Nintendo revolution that is. Nintendo has confirmed that their next system the Nintendo Revolution (keep on wanting to call it the GameCube Revolution for some reason) is coming out in 2006 and will play DVD's and be backwards compatible with the GC. That's in addition to the wireless internet ready already announced. They also announced that the system will be 3 DVD cases tall and an inch longer than a standard DVD case. It like the X-Box360 and PS3 will be able to stand on it's side or sit horizontally. They haven't announced any games yet but I'm thinking the Legend of Zelda game currently slated for the GC will be a launch title for the Revolution, we can also bet on Super Smash Brothers, Metroid, Mario, DK, Pikmin, Pokemon, and others coming out. The price will also be relatively cheap in accordance with the previous consoles. Only thing I'm worried about is the controllers. If they're going the way I think they're going to go the controller will be about the size of the bottom half of the DS with a big screen for mapping touch sensitive buttons, and it will also have two joysticks hopefully because I wouldn't be able to play a game without those. As you can see as a Nintendo freak I'm excited but what is everyone else's opinion on the just announced Revolution? www.gamespot.com/news/2005/05/13/news_6124449.html

I have to be brutally honest and say i dont think it'll make it... They lost the plot after the snes really... PS and XBOX are just too big for any more competitors...

Nintendo hasn't been the same since SNES, I'll agree with that. Darn shame, too.
But I think the Revolution will make it, there's a lot of Gamecube lovers out there.

I'm very excited at the prospect of downloading Nintendo classics but I will have to see some games before I can properly pass judgement on the Revolution.

Nintendo hasn't been the same since SNES, I'll agree with that. Darn shame, too.Well, there are those who say the same thing for after N64... And there are those who say that Nintendo's drawback is NOT having changed since SNES... Let me put it this way - Nintendo is a $ 6.000.000.000 company, doing nothing but selling/publishing games for its consoles - and it was, and is, highly profitable - which is more than Microsoft (overall $36 billion?) can claim for its console department; and Sony ($60 billion corporation) is profitable on hardware sales - but they're not into publishing games. That money is made by EA, and the like. Nintendo has sold 2.000.000.000 games in the past two decades (not counting 3rd party licences), with 150+ multi-million sellers - it'll be a while until number two catches up (not ever, if Nintendo can help it) I'm confident - Nintendo always is a little different, which granted, not everybody appreciates to the same extent. I'll defer commenting on the revolution (I don't want to have to shoot you all ) - be patient, and watch out. In any respect, 2006 will be a thrilling year in the console game industry.

*Prepares to take a bullet for everyone*
What is the Revolution's big secret?
I don't want to get you fired though if you're not supposed to reveal it.

Yes, indeed - I cling to my job. Sorry SPS, but this is off limits to discuss for me.
