Very good new browser, IMO I liked 7 a lot, but this one is a lot smaller in terms of file size - AND a lot better, at least so far Still in test mode, though...

I just tried switching to Netscape and found out that it only allows a single account. WTF?

Sorry, Phil, I don't understand what you mean...

When you installed it, did it ask if you wanted to install it for everyone or just this account?

Meaning it only allows one single e-mail address, so if I were to need separate e-mails for myself and my parents, it's impossible.

Does it allow a different e-mail account for each windows login?

OK, guys, you've got me completely confused now. I haven't upgraded my Windows machine from Netscape 7.2 yet. Have they changed the number of accounts that can be used. Right now with 7.2, I have several email accounts that I can access with it. Can someone give me a little more information about what the problem is? Shan

Phil - are you talking about the internet service provider? I'm talking about the free browser here, which is a very different thing

I dunno anymore. I don't even care anymore. I'm back on AOL and staying here since it's the only thing I know.

...I am changing my mind very fast, here. Talk about temperamental! The blasted thing crashes more often than a drunk on a unicycle.

I'm still waiting until they release a less tempermental version. That said, I've been tempted to try it lately. My old computer got a fried motherboard the other day. So I ended up getting a new machine entirely. This leaves me with a lot fewer browsers than I previously had... I can't do without at least one version of Netscape. I've thought of maybe getting 8 anyway since I need one. I'll think about it, probably...

Still on AOL here. LoL. If I ever try switching to something else again, it won't be Netscape. It'll be something else, but I don't know yet what. Edit - and sorry, Elliot, I was rather frustrated earlier and I wasn't really thinking about your question. It was the internet service provider, yes. Edit 2 - and now that I understand that this thread wasn't about that, ooooops.

Elliot, what is you opinion of Netscape 8 at this time? I need to update the browser on one of our computers, but I am not sure what to do. Right now it has Netscape 7.1 or .2 on it and I am trying to decide whether to just to upgrade to Netscape * or try Firefox for Windows. I've never run it but I run Firefox on Linux and have been pleased with it. I am very interested in hearing what you think of Netscape after this long. Shan

7.1 is rock solid and gives me no problems at all, Shan. It works on more sites than Firefox does, and has far greater overall functionality. It's also a much larger program than Firefox. Netscape 8 is a lot smaller, far more functional than either - but tends to crash. A lot. Especially if you are trying to run multiple tabs and flick quickly between them. I suspect it would work fine for someone who was very slow, but it is a pain for those like me who are frequently doing a ton of things once. Firefox is a good browser - small file size, but with lots of functions and can be used on most sites without problems. It does not, however, work on Yahoo's Launch - the music site - so fails one of MY most important tests. Your opinion may differ

My husband has been very happy with Netscape 7.1, but he was saying that it kept telling him to update and he was thinking that the next version might be better. I have been very happy with Firefox on Linux and it does everything that I want it to with the plugins that I have installed. I've never used it on Windows though. Think with what you have just told me, I will put him off for awhile longer since he is not having any problems with 7.1. Do you think they will do any updates anytime soon that might help 8? Thanks for the info, Elliot. Shan

I think they should, and I hope they will. I'll let you know when they do as soon as I know myself, Shan

Thanks Elliot. I don't follow things for Windows that much, but I would like to know what happens with it since my husband does use it. Shan

I would recommend using firefox as you can get bug-fixes quicker for it (almost every day if you want). That is if you are unwilling to try opera...
(sorry for the shamless plug)
