I think it's time to put this in writing, as a brief guide to anyone who doesn't know, and as a way for me to remember it all. My memory for fine detail being notoriously bad
On April 3rd 2005, I created 'Elliot's Fanfic Forum', which was originally intended to be a place where Gray Lensman and I could plot out our future stories, and hopefully where we could talk with other writers in an attempt to increase our mutual knowledge.
That initial idea didn't last very long. It was The Barking Shark (Currently: 'Mozzer'. Future: who knows? ;D) who first realised that what was actually being built was far different to my first intentions, and suggested a change of name. I didn't exactly thank him for the suggestion, which is the fate of all those who are ahead of their time ;D
Nonetheless... It is true of any forum that regardless of purpose, the character of the board is set by the board members, not by administrative fiat, and I was swiftly building up a very fine set of boardies indeed. More forums were soon added to give them free reign to discuss their interests, resulting in more boardies and a more rapid movement away from the original intent.
The Elliot Kane method of procedure when faced with an unexpected change can best be summed up as: 'sulk, sulk, what the heck!' Usually followed by a full-on embrace of the change, as was certainly the case here.
'Elliot's Fanfic Forum' no longer being remotely accurate, I changed the name to 'The Chaos Cascade' - a rather fanciful term I sometimes use to describe life, or more particularly, the process of living - 'Riding the chaos cascade'. The board is, after all, a place to discuss everything to do with the world and life as we know it. Or don't know it, as the case may be ;D
And so was born a forum that is basically about nothing in particular and has no real purpose beyond what we all make of it. It has no focus, no star names, and no original content. It should fall to pieces in five minutes, but then such a board should not be possible in the first place. Except for all of you - the people who use it.
If riding the chaos cascade is about living, then it is certainly about people, too
